Excited to join this forum! I have a 2001 Tacoma that got the frame recall. I've had her since new and just found out - like so many in the Northeast -- the Box is all rusted under the wheel flares. My guy says just drive it to death which will be a long long time (only 110k miles)
Anyone know if its really worth it to find a non rusted out box? Or know a reliable source for one?

hmmmm. these seem all about frames -- that's the thing -- my frame is in perfect shape. It's only the box/bed that's rusted -- is there a better way to search maybe? "box" or "bed" doesn't seem to refine it.. but new so.... Just seems if I could find a non rusted box I'll be driving this truck the rest of my life :)

Get a flat deck and trash the bed. I like them more than a standard bed and have already said if my bed gets trashed some how that is what I'll do to "fix" it

I've found used boxes for $300 with a dent to about $600 in good condition on craigslist. They're easy to swap if you have something (or some buddies) to lift them with.

I'm probably going the flatbed route though, because I can.

Ah.. Craigs List. .hadn't thought of that. Thanks! I've seen plenty -- usually in junk yards in the midwest -- but the folks who answer the phone don't and I suppose can't really say "No -- there's no rust there..." The real issue I suppose is if I can find one that's rust free -- is it really worth it.
Theory A is - Just keep driving, it's "Badass" as a friend of mine says.
Theory B -- Flatbed it -- good look and will still last forever.
Theory C -- A great truck with a newish frame and 110K -- just get over it -- spend the 2-3k it'll cost to make it pretty!
