Ive been threatening to get an F150 for a while, and my wife told me King Ranches are old man trucks and I should get a Raptor for my birthday cause they look cool. So.... yeah when your wife says "get a Raptor," what the hell else do you do?



Fortunately a 2017 supercrew with 24k miles and literally the best price within a thousand miles of me happened to be an hour up the road at a Chevy dealer. (The guy traded in on some 80k diesel dually thing because "he had two raptors and didnt need both" lol)

So I sold the taco which I built for 4 years to be dramatically less capable than this thing out of the box for right at book value which is hilarious cause it sucked and the whole truck needs repainted, and now I have a long travel fire-breathing Ford with heated and cooled seats, a steering rack that can actually turn 35s, and I dont have to pay for some shitty knockoff raptor lights cause I gots the real deal.

Q: Jibbs do you hate your taco?
A: Nah, not really, it was just slow as balls and kind of sucked to drive after 35s anywhere but dem trails

Q: Jibbs why are you still on TacomaWorld?
A: cause the raptor forum is full of mouth breathers

Q: Is it fast?
A: sneaky scary fast. The kind of fast you dont realize til you think you're going 30mph slower than you are

Q: But why not a V8?
A: 1- impossible. 2- torque > hp when 95% of your driving is under 70mph, IMO

A: more than you can afford pal. (Jk, idiots in Cali pay more for Taco Pros than I paid for this in bfn Ohio) Buy used!

I am hoping that Toyota will eventually build a Raptor killer

 

That would be sweet, but may require more risk than they seem to be willing to take with any of their vehicles.

Love or hate the American brands, you cant deny theyre beating Toyotas ass right now when it comes to putting out trucks people want to buy

 

Toyota is conservative when changing things up, they like using proven technology. It helps with the reliability of the trucks that they are known for.
But if the TRD pro came with a turbo, long travel and fenders from factory, that would sure make people think twice before choosing a Raptor.

Some neat quirks and features:

Bed is Line-X'd. Cant wait for that to destroy the bottom of my kayak. May hunt for a rubber mat.

Also has a tonneau cover. It is a "Undercover Flex". Never heard of em, but also my first tonneau cover. I dont like that I have to flip up the first third to close the tailgate.
