My ABS and traction control light have been on the for the past couple days, after making a sharp turn in a Chick-Fil-A drive-through (of all things...) Finally had time to take a closer look at it today. I was able to do the ABS light flashing method to pull the code 31, meaning the front right wheel sensor. I replaced the sensor about 2 months ago because I had the same problem and it went away, but now, I'm thinking it's the wiring itself.

Today, I unplugged all 4 sensors (by the connector that plugs into them) and checked for 12 volts coming from the wiring and made sure the plugs were clean. All corners had 12 volts except the front right sensor. I then unplugged the wiring from the engine bay and the main harness was getting 12 volts. Therefore, I am led to believe that my fault in the system is due to the bad wiring harness from the engine bay to the wheel speed sensor itself.

Do you guys agree with this assumption? If anything, I can pull the wiring off and look for any nicks, but I did not see anything today. I'm assuming I pulled a wire over the past couple months and it finally went out completely, breaking the circuit between the computer and the sensor. Right after the drive-through I was able to push the connectors by the wheel sensors back in and the light went off, but a couple hours later, it came back on when I made another sharp turn. I might just buy a new wiring harness as they're relatively cheap, part number 89516-04090. Let me know what ya'll think! Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have voltage at the top, but not at the bottom, the problem is the wiring or the sensor itself.
Sounds like you need 2 inches of extra (slack) to keep the tension off that harness.

I swap the harness left to right when diagnosing intermittent failures. It doesnt sit properly but helps me find the problem faster.

It sounds like you have it covered and on the right track.

    Good luck.

Yeah I might pull the old one off to fix and extend it... see how that goes

That's smart. I was about to run some wiring outside of the truck to test, but this seems like a more comprehensive way to check... Do you know how to reset the ABS light? Or will it automatically turn off? My only concern would be driving with the wiring out to have the truck's computer check for any faults if that's the only way.

    Sounds good! Thanks

I think I just found the issue. A tiny break into the wire and I can barely see copper. It was hiding underneath where the sensor wire clips into the spindle. I’m going to repair it and hope that’s my issue!

I see no other breaks and both side connector wires are intact
