Hello everyone! RTT noob checkin in, reading the posts in this community and this thread in particular has been super helpful in guiding me to make informed purchases. I own a 2019 TRD Off-road DCSB and I'm excited to get it outfitted with a RTT in the near future before a cross-country trip I'm planning in October.

I recently purchased the KB Voodoo crossbars as well as a tonneau cover, and the next big purchase will be the RTT to tie it all together. I've been researching and pricing out options, and I've narrowed it down to 4 that I'm leaning towards.
    • Tuff Stuff Alpha II
    • Tepui Autana
    • 23zero Walkabout 62
    • Roofnest Condor
I've noticed in here that many people seem to start with a soft-shell, and end up moving to a hard shell due to the durability/convenience factor, so I'm leaning towards either the Alpha II or the Condor. My main question is if anyone has any experience with the Alpha II given that the price point is significantly cheaper than other hard shells in the market. Any other feedback to help me make a decision would be sweet as well.

Debunked “if you have a rtt you must find a flat surface”. I’ve learned it’s actually easier to make your flat surface for your truck and it’s NOT possible to make a flat spot for your ground tent!

How would you guys suggest I repair this zipper on my Tepui cover? Is it even repairable or do I need to replace the whole zipper for the cover?

That’s what I figured too. It could use a new cover but was hoping it’s repairable instead of replacing the whole cover

I ordered a 23zero Walkabout and I’m super excited for it. After seeing it in person and seeing a bunch of CVT’s and Tepui’s I liked the 23zero so much more. It’s definitely more comfortable and the quality is much better than the competitors and the price point is outstanding for what you get

That won’t effect anything! Just maybe raise the price.

I’m not sure if they’re are still doing repairs since they moved locations, but Kirkham’s used to be able to tackle stuff like this.

edit: sorry, I was thinking this was the Utah thread. Kirkham’s is local here in SLC. Still might be worth checking with a industrial sewing place. Sometimes awning or sailing repair places work On tents too.

Tepui might take your old cover back to upcycle it into new gear. Check out their program.

    https://tepui.com/pages/upcycle

Get in tough with their customer service. I contacted them once for some extra parts and they were very helpful. They shipped to Canada fast and without issues.

Nearest 23zero dealer is 5 hours away but I did check out CVT this weekend. What exactly is better about 23Z than the CVT s. Thanks.
