If the control arm bushing starts squeaking would you have take everything apart to grease them?

Lights are in. No issues. Went smoothly. Sorry for the crappy pix. Raining out.

Let's play the game of finding the aftermarket wiring and relay. I'm absolutely anal about electrical work.

    20200801_163928.jpg

The relay is mounted behind the ECM. The wiring you'll never find.

    :D

I know the feeling. I installed HID’s on my last car before the Tacoma and tucked the relays, ballasts, and wiring so well my friend walked up and asked when I was going to get around to installing it.

This did, however, create a great big gold plated DAMMIT when one of the relays failed and I had to tear the car apart to reach them.

I did make sure that the relay and fuse from the battery were accessible.

Yeah. I was 120% focused on hidden. Never even dawned on me putting the relays in a spot I couldn’t see without removing the bumper would become a problem.

On the upside, I could knock that bumper off in under five minutes.

    Looks good.

Doesn't seem to have a wide beam pattern that will blind oncoming traffic.

    Mornin Kevin.

I'm not. But often times we get the remnants if they move northward

The picture makes them seem more glaring than they are in person. For the price...under $100...I figured I would try them. Lori likes them. That's the important part

Were supposed get remnants of the storm or the storm depending on how it tracks on Tuesday. It's much needed rain.

The wet ground makes it more glaring in the picture. But, for the price and happy wife, priceless.

In short, getting a clunk sound when I accelerate and come up to a stop. Sometimes coming to a stop I don’t get the clunk until I put the truck in neutral (which I do in the summer as street temps get to 140 and I sit stopped a lot). I was wondering if it may be the carrier bearing on the U joints.

That one stayed well clear of me. If a storm hits the Gulf of Mexico we go on high alert in my family.

    Ok
If it’s a auto why are you putting it in neutral?
    Not designed for that.
Your taking up slack every time you drop it in gear.

Without me driving it and putting my hands on it you need to be mine.
Check joints for slop or tightness.
You may need to drop the shaft to check.
Most times the ones after the center bearing are most prob for issues.
2008 will have more slop in the spider gears and ring and pinion.
So between that and your d shaft slip joint wearing some can all add to a “clunk”.
A center bearing really doesn’t add to a clunk per say unless the insulator is not there.
If you can’t find much block All the tires (ft and rear of all tires) on level ground. In neutral
Grab the dshaft by the pig and rotate back and forth and mark the end of the slop on the diff.
    See how much it is.
Like I said I do it all by feel.

There was a tsb for driveline clunk on my 2011. Not sure the earlier ones.
Replaced mine 1000 miles after I bought it.
The slip joint had excessive clearance and caused a clunk so pay attention to that area also
As you twist each end of the slip joint.

    Oh yea.
Shut the ac off while your diagnosing this.
    Just my 2 cents

Last time it was on the rack, the DS rotated about two inches before anything started to move. Granted the car was off, not sure if that helps at all.

Maybe it’s an older folk deal, but many of the old car guys that I know put their autos in neutral during the hottest days so the trans doesn’t get so hot. On my old transmission, at idle on a 107 degree day (street temp was over 140), the computer that can read all sensor data showed the trans at 207 degrees. That was in Park. If in gear, the extra friction from the torque converter should raise that a little right?

    No not really
Trying to isolate the rear diff.

Not going to debate your reasoning just remember your applying clutches every time
You throw that puppy into gear.
I know people that have done it.
And I had to overhaul their trans because the low clutch pack was worn out.
    Again just info for ya..
