Man...it's hit or miss, depending on the part. And everybody has an opinion on something that works or doesn't. I'd do research here for each individual part and see which ones are generally good and which ones to avoid.

For mechanical, I've found out the hard way that it's only worth it to me to use OEM Toyota parts, especially sensors and drivetrain parts. They're spendy, but they work long and well and I've always gotten top dollar from future buyers, in part, because I was strict about using only Toyota parts.

For most 'maintenance' type parts I go rockauto.com and try to get OEM (aisin, denso) or better. For important parts that I cannot find OEM for I have ordered thru local dealer.

You should also order parts from a source that you know has "genuine OEM" as the counterfeit market is rampant. I bought a counterfeit denso coil that lasted 6 months, I only really needed the gasket fortunately, as I was missing one. I came in a counterfeit brown toyota OEM box as well.

I generally go to Rockauto first if it's parts I can't find a decent price on locally. The marketplace on TW is great for finding deals if you're not in a pinch and need parts right away. When I was looking for Genuine Dana/Spicer parts for rebuilding my drive shaft, I wound up going through Autoplicity.com. They shipped direct from the manufacturer with the paper trail to follow, Toyota parts in Spicer boxes.
