has anyone replaced the 3rd gen tacoma seats? I have a 2017 trd sport and find the seats are not very supportive. I was wondering if anyone has replaced them with something a little more supportive?

Only thing I have seen has been a Frs seat swap.
Other than that, most use the seat risers in the back mounts or have the seat reshaped at an upholstery place.

I replaced the seats in my 2004 Tacoma with Recaro seats. Expensive ($4K), but worth every mile of comfort in the long run! Very firm and supportive.

    Go to an upholsterer.

Swapping seats is way over considered. You’re swapping one one size fits all seat for another. If you want to make the most of your money, go get your seat custom fit to you.

Otherwise, no. Mismatched seats and average comfort at best? Pass.

i dont understand this. whats uncomfortable to you? is it lexus levels of luxurious? no. but on that same token i never did get in my truck and think to myself damn these seats suck lol. trust me man, im a pretty big dude and thats my thought process. i remember my 13 sr5 prem had some pretty excellent seats. was the last year it came with actual leather at that trim level. now when you upgrade you only get that inferior softex product. only limited comes with real leather now. doesnt seem like it was affected on the sequoia, cause my sport still has the real leather. i dunno how it works with tacoma. it does look like softex all the way across the trim line. my taco has the standard sport seats too. no softex as i didnt opt for the package.

edit: i will add. usually on my tacos or any vehicle that i get that standard cloth seats, ill jump for wet okole seat covers. those are worth it. they keep your seats new and protected, plus the give this added comfort when you sit in them because the seat covers are pretty thick neoprene material. its worth the investment. straight up.

I drive for an hour and my legs go numb and ache.
It's not a one size fits all seat. It was less noticeable in my 2nd gen, but as the back problems increase the time in the seat gets shorter before the lower part of my body feels pinched.

@JaCado: gotcha. i dunno how one would fix that. maybe if we could put some sort of spacers under the front mounting bolts so it gives a slight decline to take the pressure off the underside of your legs. i dunno. just spitballing here lol.

I believe @subrat had his stock seats modified by an upholstery shop to suit his needs.

It's been done and covered to death on here.
Correct. Spacers and new bolts for all 4 corners are available, some go and get it custom fit at upholstery shop.
The spacers are debatable on sheer strength in a accident and air bag placement angle are changed.

I was not enjoying my seats at all in my 2018. I added 1" risers and new bolts in the back of the seat. I now no longer actively hate the seats. I'm not saying the seats are great now, but I complain much less after driving 4+hours.

Check the Buy/Sell/Trade forum. Several people sell hardware that adjusts seat height.

What can help some people is an incline or raising the front of the seat for support under your thighs to raise your knees. That can make a big difference in the amount of time one can sit and drive without additional leg, butt or nerve pain from back or spinal issues.Desertdoesit.com654D67A0-C783-4A42-AEEF-3770391D7F9D.jpg

When did the Tacoma become the standard for luxury? But, I can sympathize with OP.

Sometimes it takes a couple of hours or so before the pain, numbness or discomfort begins while seated at length in a particular position.
Sometimes people suffer back injuries after purchasing a vehicle.
People have all kinds of back problems. Spinal stenosis, scoliosis, bulging or herniated discs, sciatic nerve pain from pinched nerves, not yet discovered tumors, pulled ligaments or muscles......Unfortunately, not everyone remains young and/or perfectly healthy.
