So I'm gonna do the full coolant change and thermostat replacement on my truck. It's got 137k so I figure might as well do it now as preventative maintenance. I bought it used so I don't think it's ever been done. But one question I was pondering, is the water pump a maintenance item or is it supposed to last the lifetime of the truck? There's no leaks or problems, just wondering if it's supposed to be replaced after so many miles? Thanks!

Water pumps will USUALLY warn you when they go. I would skip it personally. 137k is not really that many miles

Agree with suaveflooder on this one. If your water pump is showing no signs of problems I wouldn't mess with it. I mean it its not like you are going to have the front of the engine off anyway and it would be easy to get to.
