At 70 yo I doubt I will be buying another car. I would not mind owning a 66 GTO in any color as long as the power train is powerful.

An uncle bought a new GTO, 3 dueces and four speed, in 67 or 68. He was in his 50s at the time. Liked to race kids at stop lights. Had to get rid of it because his wife couldn't handle the stick shift. I would have given my eye teeth for it.

Neighbor had a 66 Lemans - conventional three speed floor shift (H pattern). Got a spanking new 67 GTO 4 spd car - a beauty in metallic blue. His wife jumped in, put it in "low" - and drove it into the garage door!

My first car while in HS (1971 Junior Year) was a 1967 Camaro RS with a 3 speed H pattern on the floor. Had a 3.6 liter V-6 - I couldn't find a GTO that I could afford at that time. My dad wouldn't let me drive his 1970 Oldsmobile Cutless 442 AT

I have a sort of similar story. A buddy had a Subaru in the 1970's, which at the time was one of the few cars that required you to depress the clutch before the starter would engage. Apparently his wife grew accustomed to hitting the key first, then pushing in the clutch pedal. Then he bought a Fiat 124 wagon, which did not have that feature. His wife promptly bashed the car into a wall when trying to start it!

Morning all!! My first car was a 1964 Falcon convertible followed closely by a '66 Mustang coupe. Next up was a '70 Mustang Boss 302...and then I got married and our son was born. I was still in college and we couldn't afford two cars...and putting a baby seat into the back of the Mustang was a chore so we sold it and kept Lynn's 73 Subaru 4 door coupe.

I bought my first new car when I started getting my $100/month check for advanced ROTC. My car payment was $75/month and I still had $25 for gas. I bought a '76 Subaru 4WD Wagon - the first year for their 4WD models.

Lotsa car stories out there. My first car was a 65 Malibu convertible. The plastic window was so fogged you couldn't see out. I sideswiped a tree backing down our driveway. So I went to get an estimate at a body shop and promptly backed into a light pole leaving their lot.

Thinking back maybe I wasn't ready to drive yet. Lol

Good morning folks, looks like a monsoon out there with wind gusts and heavy rain. Lost power for a couple of minutes but it's back on now. :fingerscrossed:
Be safe and stay dry and folks in the hurricane areas be very careful and stay safe.

So.....are all you Pennsy folks high and dry? Hope the storm was kind to all of you - and the southern contingent as well. We just had another day of 105+, so no drought breaker here so far.

Lots of rain but no strong winds here where I am in northeast PA. The storm sure moved quickly - and we never lost power, either.

Plenty of rain last few days but no violent weather. We needed it, some grass on the high spots brown. I haven't mowed for 3 weeks. Lost power for 5 hrs. during one deluge. Utility map depicted a substation down 15 miles south. Wife didn't even know the power went out.. her computer is on battery backup for a few seconds, while the genny spools up. I'm a genius.

Up in the Thumb of Michigan we have had winds and off/on rain, sometimes heavy, since Sunday. Today it is still windy with sun. The wind is dying down. I have been looking for a rotisserie for my SIL grill for a few years now. Finally came across one last March. The price was free, FTW. Doing 2 chickens for dinner tonight. If there are any BBQ enthusiasts in this thread I will post up a few pics.

I am definitely a BBQ enthusiast. A little bbq story - When I retired my wife bought me a top of the line Weber bbq with all the bells and whistles. I grill all the time and have most my life. I couldn’t wait to use the rotisserie. Got 2 whole chickens and injected them over 2 days with a tasty sauce. Invited a couple over for dinner and put the chickens to slowly cook on the rotisserie. Sat back drank some wine with our friends and about an hour later went to check the chickens. When I opened the lid and to my shock the chickens looked like two pieces of black coal. What happened was the sauce I injected was butter based and as the chicken rotated much of the “flammable “ butter sauce drained out of the chickens at the injection sites and caught fire. It was like dumping gasoline on a fire. I learned several valuable lessons from the experience We ordered pizza that night.

Ken, a very successful cook. Tomorrow will be pork butt steaks. This is after 2 hours at 300° the internal temp was 175°. I brined them for 5 hours in Kosmos Chicken Soak then put on How to BBQ Right AP rub followed by The BBQ Rub.20200805_161739.jpg

Very nice. Looks great. Brining is the way to go with birds/poultry. I’m hungry for chicken.

Good morning, all. My skill level in grilling is burgers. Maybe now that I retired I can expand that capability!! My brother in law just picked up a 4 burner grill that looks interesting.

Be safe and enjoy your day!!!
