I really need the rears too. I have fronts but wanted the ones @Evenflow has so I don’t have to deal with cutting the ones I have

Got a call from @81Trekker sounds like my custom bypasses for the +4 kit are finally done at King ! +4 kit is at the laser cutter, steering and LCA tab kits are ready too !

Stripped the camper shell down, awning, chase bar, interior lighting, bed rug kit, front window, back window all out for the build process. Need to pull the side windows for the fiberglass work I will be doing to the shell but discovered that the frameless glass is glued in ( prob urethane like a windshield ) so I might have to pay a windshield guy to do the old cut it out with a wire trick...rather pay for that vs risk cracking it myself.

After 15 years it’s time to replace the Bedrug kit and the carpet on the interior of the shell...couple more things to add to the list ugh :/ I had the bed rug kit trimmed around the bed cage but it was not removable without pulling the bed cage. Thinking of getting a new Bedrug kit and cutting it nicely around the beg cage but also have seams so it can be removed for cleaning without pulling the bed cage. Would like to have an upholstery shop edge band all of the cuts so it looks “ pro”.

Dropping the shell off at JD Fab tomorrow so I can start fitting my Fiberwerx bedsides.

Truck goes into the shop in a couple weeks ...Stoked !

Only the second time in almost 15 years that I’ve seen my truck without the camper shell...felt like it has an extra 50hp with 300lbs of crap pulled off of it

So for anyone that has not seen @81Trekker ’s thread about all of the new JD Fab products here is all of the stuff they are doing for me :

The great thing about the LCA tab kit from JD Fab is that you can push the LCA around an 1 1/2” forward to help clear the firewall and cab mount etc. The LCA tabs are spread wider and they supply billet spacers for positioning the LCA between the tabs. If you use that kit along with one of their long travel kits you can push the LCA all the way forward because their UCA has the geometry to account for it. Check out all the info on their website because I’m probably butchering some tech terms lol

They only have a +2 kit on their site right now (...which if you use their 934 cv’s pulls as much travel as most +3.5 kits @13” ) but they have a +4 kit coming soon...I asked them to build it so I am getting the first one in a couple weeks :D

They also have a steering slide rack and heim’d double sheer spindle gusset kit and a bunch of other well thought out details so I’m going all in...

    +4 kit
    Steering rack kit
    Custom sec’d bypasses
    LCA tab kit

Here is their website : https://jdfabrication.com/collections/05-15-6-lug

    @81Trekker ’s thread here on TW : https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...g-now-adding-long-travel-and-934-cv’s.626274/

Here are some pics I’ve saved from their thread :

In this pic you can see the sealed uniball lowers and how they are spaced in the LCA tab kit & you’ll notice they use an HD high angle sealed greasable ball joint in the UCA and LCA. Check out the configuration of the bypass tabs on the LCA, no worries about backspacing and the back of your rims hitting the LCA or the tab. The truck they mocked it up with had 5” backspacing rims :

See how the LCA has that pocket for the CV, allows both more ground clearance and more clearance for the CV at droop, this one of their custom 934 CV’s :

They offer a few different bushing options but this is their sealed uniball for uppers and lowers :

Slide rack kit, the clevis is offset so everything lines up properly with thedouble shear kit at the spindle to prevent bump steer :

Here is their gusseted spindle w/ the double shear Heim steering set up, spindle is drilled out for a straight bolt for the Heim mis alignments :

    The LCA tab kit :

As @Airdog showed the lowers end up basically solid mounted after alignment and with the uniball lca’s on the JD Fab LCA’s there is no bushing binding going on :

Thanks for all that info man. Shit I’ve been following that thread and more than half of what they talk about I am clueless.

Your write up shed some light on some stuff, but man when I read stuff like that it just shows how little I know about cars/trucks, but at least I can change a suspension and install a bumper or two. Super stoked for you.

Everyone starts somewhere bro, you just learn by doing as you go. Don’t be embarrassed to ask questions on @81Trekker ’s thread either.

What I really like about all of their new stuff is that they are taking the time to solve a lot of Tacoma specific fit and functionality issues.

Their lower control arm design for example, everyone has always loved Camburg’s uniball pivot LCA’s but they use that funky ball joint adapter to get the cv off the top of the LCA and that makes the LCA sit a couple inches lower to the ground. There are a lot of stories about those unsealed uniballs getting trashed too...

JD Fab went with the uniball LCA idea, took it to the next level with sealed uniball, pocketed the LCA for more ground clearance and it also gives your cv boot a ton of clearance at droop too and they use a custom heavy duty greasable ball joint that is as strong as a uniball in the LCA and UCA too which is rad because every joint is super strong but sealed which means your super rad custom truck won’t sound like a squeaky hoopty when your cruise the mall for chicks !

Part of the work @81Trekker will be doing for me is flaring the sides of the high clearance bumper to match the flare of the new bedsides

Forgot to post about this one...couple weeks ago I noticed that the spare tire carrier on my swing gate was about to crack and fall off... two pieces of the structure are fractured and 4 welds are cracked. Called CBI, they asked for photos...and offered to repair it if I shipped it to them for repair...round trip ticket...on my dime :/

So, add this to the list for @81Trekker. We are going to cut off the CBI bushing spindle and add two bearing spindles and build a new dual swing gate all out of 2x4 .
