Planning on fitting the head unit tomorrow morning. Pulled the old head unit out, checked all of the contents of the Dasaita and already ran into a few issues.

    Already stripped one screw :anonymous:

    Pic-1_65b301ebbb81339dfe7decee3fa561e2f1dba076.jpg

Most of the wires were pretty neatly prepped, but I found an exposed (orange/black) wire...

    Pic-3_6af2251dd9d9ce9ffd4a3479048d354df6b85beb.jpg

Turns out it was a bad crimp job on the CANBUS harness, and the wire snapped out of the Molex terminal :argue:

I've had my A10 unit running now for a week. I've had 2 Pumpkin brand Android HUs prior this one so I can make some comparisons.

First, the HU looks great in the dash. However, it was not an easy install to get it in the dash. First, the bracket for the emerg flashers didn't fit and even if it did, the stock screws would have broken apart the plastic studs on the HU as they were small on the round making the screw holes were too small. I used eye hooks and wire to secure the bracket in place. Second, the stock clips did not fit well on the top clip holders. They were too small. I only used 2 on the corners which snapped well but the HU eventually popped out at the top. I also had to modify brackets....the ones you see there I had to discard and use a different pair. The bolt holes in the plastic were too far out. The second pair I used jad th bolt holes closer but still needed to insert a make-shift spacer with longer bolts to secure the bottom. All that said, most of the wiring was plug and play.

As for the functionality, slightly disappointed.

First, it's not as loud as previous Android HUs. 45W per channel is not quite enough for stock speakers. My previous HUs were 50w. I ended up ordering an amp and it's on the way. Related to that, I found the equalizer limited. It's hard to get it to sound good. Hoping the amp helps.

Second, my Huawei E303 3G USB dongle would not work in it. It worked in my previous 2 HUs plus my Surface tablet. I emailed the seller and he said some dongles are not compatible. I had to ask if he could recommend one and he did, which I found on aliexpress for $13.30. I ended up disputing the HU on dhgate and got a partial refund for the cost of the new USB 3G dongle.

Third, I can't get all the steering wheel controls to work. I narrowed it down to one of the 2 wires coming from the back of the HU.

Fourth, this unit is unable to do a split screen with 2 apps. My last Android HU with A7 was capable of doing this. It's too bad because it would have been nice with the 9" screen.

Fifth, the UI looks cool but gonna install another launcher. I don't find it practical.

Sixth, I use a USB stick in all my units with some videos on it. This HU seems to lose connection with the stick after a warm boot. I've had to remove it and plug it back in a few times now which is annoying when the USB cables run into the glove box.

    There is but...

I asked Iris if the new 10.0 update is available and they responded with this:

    "Hey friend,
Sorry, Android 9.0 can only be upgraded on the basis of 9.0, not to Android 10.0.
The latest version of Android 9.0 below.

You can update via the following link.
    MAX6 Version : PX6 HA2_rk3399_9.0_ota(20200521)
    https://www.sendspace.com/pro/dl/jpm7u4"

Which I find hard to believe.

i was reading through the threads on the forum where all the updates are listed and others have already done it. watched a video of another method to the update as well. it is definitely possible. i was just wondering if it was worth it. i currently have one of the updates with split screen functionality and its great

Ya that option is pretty sweet. I'm extremely happy with that last update, I have had zero issues and I want to keep it that way lol. So I'm thinking I'll wait on the 10 update till more us attempt it. Just in case :D

Do you have a link for the work around installs?

Whenever I get around to finally installing mine, I have a feeling I’m gonna be bugging @theolee a lot about the launcher and updates. Sorry in advance man

I tried to re-crimp the wire for the CANBUS harness and I guess I failed. Unit powers on but I have no sound. Looks like I'll have to wait for a replacement harness from Iris :annoyed:

Why not get some splice connectors or t-taps and connect the wire directly. My HU has a wire diagram under Settings. Can't remember the speaker wire colours but shouldn't be hard to figure out.

I guess I could but Iris has already agreed to send a replacement. I also ordered a few male Molex terminals from Amazon and I'll try and see if I can re-crimp the wires myself

From a previous dash kit I had kicking around. Had to drill new holes in it to get it to fit. Because of the low profile of the amp, the bracket did not fit all the way into the dash, which is why I had to make spacers and use longer screws.

How did you line up/measure where to drill the holes?

Used one hole already in it. Measured the distance to the other hole on the HU, then marked it on the bracket. If I was off slightly, just used the drill and the side of the drill bit to elongate it. If the hole is a little big, just use a washer (I also added lock washers).

since there are so many different branded and unbranded units like these that are identical.. whats the difference between the dasaita unit and lets say this one on ebay that looks 100% identical besides the price?

but is it really worth a extra 300$ what is one gonna do that the other isnt? i mean if ur just using it for music and nav.. i cant see disc space being a issue unless your trying to store music or videos or tons of apps that never get used lol
