I am not much of a techie so I apologize for asking such a simple question. I usually use wireless Bluetooth and play my music from my iPhone. I keep reading here about Car Play. Is this wireless on my 2020 Pro or do I need a USB cable to make it work? Thanks everyone!

You need to connect with a USB cable.

Thanks everyone! Can someone please tell me more about the wireless connectors? Does the sound quality suffer?

Okay....went out and got my CarPlay working. Thanks to everyone who responded. Best part that I can see is I can ask CarPlay to play specific songs on my phone while my Bluetooth player only plays them in order. I have a large Playlist so it takes forever for songs I really like to play again. I can't simply ask Bluetooth to play a specific song. CarPlay allows me to do that!

You could just ask Siri to do it too

I'm sorry but how does this work? Do I have to download and app or is there something I need to do with my setup?

The newer iPhones have a setting where you can just say "Hey Siri" and then you can give it a voice command.
It should be in your settings somewhere.
Edit: should be under "Siri and Search" and then "Hey Siri"

Access to GPS via Google maps, WAZE and Apple maps, that's worth it enough. Unless you have an Audi or Tesla that utilize Google maps as their OEM GPS system, no OEM GPS comes close.

It's not just the directions that makes it helpful, it's the live traffic updates. Even if you know where you're going, traffic, accidents, and speed traps all change and with Google Maps and Waze you can either avoid them, or at least know what you're getting in to.

It’s a way easier hands off experience on the car’s display rather than on the phone. It seems night and day to me. I just hate that it requires a cable and my current cable is busted. Note also that I don’t have a mount for my phone, so it’s sitting in the center console which is a PITA.

I haven’t seen the advertisements you speak of, but I can understand how an advertisement might over sell something. It wouldn’t be much of an advertisement otherwise.

I didn’t even know I hard CarPlay until my girlfriend found it by accident and hooked up the turn by turn directions while we were on a road trip. I was like, “hell ya, cool!” She was happy because it relieved her of her duty as navigator.

Also more and more states are making it illegal to operate a phone while driving (mounted or handheld). In California you can't touch your phone at all while driving. So by utilizing the car's touchscreen to access your phone's functions you're not going to get a ticket.

You could always get a "Mapsco" or Texaco Gas Station map and lay it open on the drivers side seat to the grid you are on. Who needs newfangled electronics?

I specifically navigate my commute to work (well before working from home most of the time lol.)

there are six or more different ways to go and each day one way may be quicker than another with traffic taken into account.

OK....here is the latest update. Suri works great....everything I want so I can request my iPhone play specific songs. However, after I got off work yesterday, Syri quit working Nothing. I'd ask my phone, "Suri, play Hotel California. Before I got to work it worked seamlessly. Coming home from work...no Suri at all. Any ideas?

Sometimes it gets hung up. You need to turn off your truck completely and start again.

Maybe try “Siri” instead of “Suri”...
