Just picked up a new phone and thinking about using my old one as a dedicated AA phone in the truck. This would solely be used for maps/music. Does anybody know if I can use my main phone for calls/texts via bluetooth with this setup?

I'm pretty sure the Bluetooth audio is disabled when using AA.

I tried to basically do the same thing, although with one phone. I tried to use google maps on the display, but then play music from Bluetooth, since the music player wasn't supported by AA. I think it grayed out the Bluetooth audio, or just turned off AA.

I wanted to do the same thing. I just tried it again with my Note 4 and Pixel 2; didn't work. When AA is connected, it connects that phone to BT and doesn't allow any other connection

Ah bummer. After rereading my initial post, I just wanted to add that I'm not just being a lazy bum and not trying it myself haha. I ordered a phone that still hasn't arrived. Thanks for the help all. Guess it's back to the drawing board.

You could just put the music on the new phone and then use the old one for maps

I have a server setup at home that manages my music. I'm trying to avoid having to periodically bring the phone in the sync it. I'll have to dive deeper in the android/xda forums to maybe find a solution

I was doing some searching and found this:
    https://forum.xda-developers.com/ge...droid-3-0-proxy-gateway-android-auto-t3813163

I think I'm going to give it a try. All I really want is to have maps available to me when my phone isn't connected via a cable because I didn't buy the nav package :)

And that gave me a new project idea. Make a mux so I can have my backup phone connected to AA always, and then when I plug in my main phone, it switches over to that

This seems like exactly what I was brainstorming at work today with some sort of hotspot setup. Thanks for that link. Please let me know how it goes for you! My new phone needs to ship already..
