I'd love to get a 220 since we have an outlet. But I'm not going to anger my roommate since it's on "his side" of the garage. A year ago he picked up a 220v millermatic for cheap and said I could use it. I filled up the gas, got a new gun, and a couple spools of wire for it. But he got extremely angry over a small disagreement recently and refuses to talk to me. A few mutual friends told me that he was actually mad I burned up his air impact. That impact was a well used Facebook marketplace special but I humored him. Got a brand new Ingersoll Rand 2235TIMAX last week. Tried giving it to him but had to just leave it on the kitchen table with a note.

So RIP to sunk costs into that 220 Miller. I'll just get a 110 and teach myself, then eventually upgrade.

Hell yeah, it's one of my hobbies. I worked as a sports broadcast producer for four years, and I did a few years of film/television class. Most recently I edited a two hour theatrical production for a student org. I used to do freelance videography in my free time a few years ago.

I actually signed on to be the executive producer and lead cinematographer for a documentary on an old pop group, but COVID ruined it.

    Here's my new toy:

That's a shame, just some misunderstandings or miscommunications. That's almost always what it is. Like we're all good people, we'd never intentionally do stuff to hurt each other. Generally speaking lol
But yeah that's a bummer you couldn't just talk it out. Similar interests, cool guys, you know?

But definitely don't let that hold you back from your goals if getting that 110V welder and getting going on it:cool: just even having that base knowledge/experience of being able to turn it on and to the right settings and knowing what to expect when you squeeze the trigger is all it takes to get practicing and to get good

Damn, I don't miss roommate drama and remember it all too well.

What if you offer to throw him $5-$10 an hour to use it (if it's a smallish project) rather than shell out for another welder. Doesn't sound like you're in the wrong at all!!!...but for $50-$100 to squash the "beef" vs buying a new welder...
