Yeah but what if those methods fail?

anyone have replaced the factory breather successfully with their 2019 with rear locker?

Successfully? Yes.... with a 14mm 6 point impact socket and a breaker bar.

Something slightly smaller so maybe a standard size sockets. Those are hardly ever use anyway due to most bolts being in metric.

    maybe a 9/16 or 1/2 socket.

That would be done already if i knew that at the beginning. No issue with the 4runner breather removal. See the pic of 4runner breather.

    Just finished the change.

Used pipe wrench to remove the breather carefully.

I'd put an open breather and run it up high above the bed. Use antiseize.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
Mine too was all the way down to the pumpkin and way tighter to break loose than it should've been but came out in one piece once it got going. The last few threads at the top definitely looked fatigued. Not sure what the torque spec actually is but I bet its not what it actually was. Glad you got yours off eventually...

forgot about anti seize but it wont be removed for a long time.

Hopefully this topic will help others who may struggle to remove the breather or would be able to remove at the first few attempts.

Absolutely this. If you have the room, a [good] pipe wrench works far better then vice grips.

Pipe wrench's can remove everything, unless the bolt is welded on.
