What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Yeah but you asked about the liner correct? Or did I misunderstand? I cut the fender and parts of the finder liner

 

I did the air intake cowl reroute first so I'm good there, but everything else you described is what I was interested in. If you trim the fenders you loose you liner attachment points on the fender, unless you cut tabs where they connect and bend them back up or do something similar. I cut tabs and bent them up, but the OEM liner doesn't fit well and I got it zip tied for now. What did you do? This is the best photo I got right now, if you zoom in you can see some the inner fender tabs I cut and bent ro reattach the liner with zip ties for now.


Edit: did you just cut a bit of your fender down near the cab mount maybe? I was thinking you cut an entire 1-2" off the entire length of your fenders.

Yeah thats where the miscommunication was. I trimmed the corners down, not along the whole fender. However in those corners I cut out the tabs for the fender liner

 

Not today but started working on the car 2 weeks ago and finally finished today (USPS has been really slow on shipping). I added a Hooke roof rack, oem lug nut lock, TRD leather shift knob, Clazzio leather seats, Husky WeatherBeaters floor mats and finally added a 2019 navi radio w/ hondo knobs modded to fit in a 2nd gen. Thanks to @Twizted for the radio bezel.

You're not wrong about that.

Warranties are specifically designed to end right as failure rates start to increase. It's based on tons of life cycle and failure rate analysis and reliability engineering, along with cost analysis for implementing the warranty.

Companies sell/offer warranties because it makes them money, not because it saves the consumer money. If a company sells you a warranty, they sell it with the expectation that your cost to repair in the warranty period will be less than the price you paid for the warranty. And the way warranties are designed basically guarantees that. People who don't offset the cost of their warranty with repairs essentially subsidize the few people that do have repair costs greater than the price of the warranty. In big picture, warranties benefit those selling them, not those buying them.

For electronic systems (e.g. a stereo), you might as well throw your money in the trash before buying a warranty. Reliability and lifecycles are very well understood for electronic components, and that directly translates into warranty terms stacked against the consumer.

Mechanical systems are more complex with respect to reliability and you might have a better chance at getting your money's worth out of a warranty. But again, they wouldn't sell it if it didn't make them money.

Wasn't able to do my doors yesterday (power mirror install/sound deaden).
I do have my center console in my house so I checked to see if the 1' mic extension cord will work for my CB install. It wont, it's way too short.
I ended up buying a 3' extension cord and it will be here Monday.
Think I'll do my doors on Saturday instead.

 

Except HF warranties. Those things are meant to get you a new piece of equipment at the end of the warranty period, and a new warranty. Just ask me how I, and my welder, knows this tidbit.

I read an article a few years back that said Best Buy made more money that fiscal year selling extended warranties than products.

The other part of it is this society where people live week to week and cannot afford a repair.

I bought the most reliable truck on the road, WTF do I need a warranty. LoL

 

What are you gonna do with your stock rear bumper? Lol. I need a good used one.

 

So if you were gonna find a different Tacoma to upgrade from an 2009 and wanted to spend up to $35k +- what would you look for? 2nd Gen with low miles or 3rd Gen ? And the what to avoid in the 3rd Gen ? Gotta have 4x4, back up camera, blue tooth.
