It's not jsut those two parts, you've got to have a smaller resonator to get the full sound of TRD intake. Unfortunately you can't add TRD resonator with stock piping. You've got to: A- go full TRD, or B- fabricate it like I did.

Toyota dealer or online. I use TRDShop.com. The price is usually a buck or two higher, but the shipping is usually half of the competition.

Install is easy....I did K and N but I can notice a performance increase with my custom exhaust and a MPG bump of 1.5 or so. After 5 tanks it has been well documented now.

Both of you guys bought the Injen unit?
I’ve not heard of this one yet.
How did you decide on this one with all the other manufactures out there?

Based on that claim of 17 rwhp and look at that graph I wouldn't trust anything they say.

right. the factory intake isnt even restrictive when its way down at 3500 rpm and its showing a 5whp increase.

Skip the TRD intake, and look at S&B. It looks and performs better. I get better mpg and is quiet when cruising, but can be loud if you step on it.

The Injen intake was an easy install with good instructions. The only thing I didn't like was the way the filter box intake tube mated to the fender (just a rubber piece that butts up against). I chose to use the rubber flange from the TRD kit instead, since it actually goes through the fender opening and seals against the outside. It's the same diameter and mates to the Injen box nicely with a 4-5" SS hose clamp.

I don't plan to drive through 4 feet of standing water, so not too worried about it LOL. If you're going to be doing that you need a snorkel!!

I looked at that one too, and it seems nice. For comparison, the Injen intake is similar to how you describe the S&B... quiet when cruising, even at highway speeds, but loud when heavy on the throttle. There's no resonator box, after all. Just a straight tube.

Until someone provides dyno data for the TRD kit, I'm convinced it's just a nice-looking and louder OEM intake with a longer-lasting filter. Those may be benefits, but the price is steep. For $400 I'd like a performance bump too. And if all you want is a longer-lasting filter, just buy the TRD filter individually and install it in the OE intake box. It's the same size.

Thanks for posting these parts/part numbers. I decided to go with the TRD accelerator and a HPS silicone air intake hose. 57-1600-BLK - $155.

Lol I know the feeling. I actually installed this Injen Intake on my tacoma as well. I really couldn't feel a noticable "power" difference per say, but I didn't really buy it to "go faster" to begin with. I just wanted to install an intake for the fun and nostalgia of it all (for the sound difference - which is minimal - and for the "marginal" increase in fuel efficiency).

On an slightly related note, if anyone is interested, I posted an install video on YouTube for the Injen Evolution Cold Air Intake System. I'm just starting out as a novice YouTuber, so go easy on me lol.
