This just came in... but none of the plugs fit, wtf am i missing

I have a 2011... no plugs from the radio fit the oem wires ...

 

Do you have a JBL system? The kit didn't come with a wiring harness?

 

Yes,I have jbl . The wires it came with fit nothing

 

If you had a JBl, I believe you need a wiring harness with CANBUS.

 

And where can I find that ??

I have the CAN BUS wiring adapter that Iris told me I’d need for the factory JBL wiring. I can dig it out of the box and take a picture later.

lol ive been watching mine to.. ordered on the 26th last month.. on the 31st it cleared us customs.. and finally yesterday its at a local distribution center.. hoping it comes today or tomorrow

this (note it is version 10) as of today for my 2014 truck but expected delivery is in mid-October so guess we will see when it arrives. Have a ********* amp system already installed so will see how plug and play everything works out for me. My primary concern is getting a GPS function installed. Want to use it with ON-X hunting and off-roading maps and particular where there is no cell phone connectivity. Appreciate any and all comments on that subject. Will start posting how my install goes once I get the HU.

 

From what I read, some of the plugs are unused. I'm still waiting on my replacement CANBUS harness but I believe I only plugged in two connectors and the OEM antenna wire

 

So as of right now, you have nothing plugged in as well?

 

I only test fitted the head unit so that I could drill holes in the OEM bracket. Other than that, it's still sitting in eh garage until the harness gets here.

I did plug in the power connector into the harness just to make sure the unit powered on and it did.

It'll be there before you know it. Got mine in 5 days from purchase.

The head unit has a GPS receiver but I haven't tried it with other apps.

As for onx offroad, if I remember right it's just an app right? If it is, doesn't it have an option to download maps? Think of this headunit as a Android tablet, because it is. The options are endless. Hopes this helps in some way.

 

My current HU did not have the navigation function. I am going to assume my 2014 Tacoma does not have a stock GPS antenna installed somewhere? From what I picked up in the thread the Dasaita provides an antenna and it can be tucked away behind the unit.

ON-X is an app that I figure can be downloaded to the unit. Will just need to figure out how to get it to synch the app with the HU GPS. ON-X also sells micro chips for specific states and I have some other off-roading micro chips I picked up from another company. Know there is a memory card slot in the back but more for a memory card than these chips.

Question - Not clear why there is all the discussion about changing the stock Tacoma USB connectors in the center console below my stock HU unit. When you connect the Dasaita to the stock harness does that not integrate the stock USB connection?

 

I don't think our trucks come with stock GPS wiring. I'm sure you could always replace the satellite radio antenna on the roof with a GPS one. And yes the dasaita HU does come with a gps antenna. Does it work with other apps? I don't know..

I ordered the extra memory too and never really saw where the mini SD card is hiding lol. I'm guessing it's under the dash kit. There might be a slot for a sim card there too. Maybe one of the other guys that took it apart to paint it could chime in.

There are three USB cables. You need to use one of them whenever a update comes up for your HU. These cables also help with Android auto (with headunit reloaded), hard transfer data, files and music etc. The reason why I chose to match them up with a blank port is because I didn't have a USB/AUX port. Just an AUX. So basically convenience was my reason.

The SD Card slot is on the left side of the HU. Mine came with a small SD Card already installed.

I got the USB extension for the center console, but I also got another two USB ports that replaces the cigarette lighter port. The only crap part is, it looks like I have to pull off 10 different trim pieces to get to it. I can fish the wires behind all the trim pieces but I can't secure the lock ring for the cigarette lighter USB port module without getting a hand behind the trim piece.

 

Lol ya. Accessing those ports can be a freaking night mare. But I was able to pull the headunit and HVAC out and reach my fingers in there like this guy did in this thread:

I definitely don't want to pull apart off the trim. I'll try this.

In relation to AsianAnts posts, can you confirm we're only plugging in like two connectors into the harness and the rest are unused? I'm still waiting on my replacement wiring harness
