Just purchased a 2020 magnetic grey Tacoma TRD off-road and I am going to upgrade the wheels. Planning on putting the black TRD wheels on it. As these are 17 inch wheels vs the stock 16 inch I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for tire size

I have 265/70/17 bit think a bigger size than this would look better.

I ran 265/75/16 on my Barcelona red 3rd gen and it looked great with a 2” leveling kit. No rub but not sure what tire size would look good and aggressive on a 17” wheel with the same suspension setup.

This usually goes one of two ways:
    1. Put 265s on it, then toss and turn at night knowing it needs 285s, and eventually break down and replace your nearly new 265s with 285s, or
    2. Bite the bullet and figure out what the truck needs to accommodate 285s

Not trying to start a war, but I've seen this a lot here..

I have 265/75 BFG KO2s on the TRD Pro 16s and I’ve been very satisfied with this size tire. Most importantly, no huge hit to MPG (averaging 16.5MPG in city; 19-20MPG on longer trips through the Cascades here in WA), and the spare still fits without any bending or modification.

285’s look great. Lots of work to do it right. But I’m good with my 265/75/16

This is what I have ordered with my Blistines 5110's 265/75/16 KO2's on the Stock rims for now.

I think you need a 3 Inch lift to clear with no rubbing. But that maybe for only 17" wheels.

    Don't quote me =)

More or less, yes. A lot of it depends on what wheels you’re running, spacers or not if stock, and what you do to fit them if they rub.

I’m on 255/85r16’s so slightly taller but skinnier. I rubbed on my UCA with stock SR steel wheels (7” wide +30mm offset) and have no rub now that I’ve added spidertrax 1.25” Spacers. YMMV. They fit the same with no lift as they do now with a 2” lift and stock UCA.

Well it depends on how much cutting you want to do.

I think you could do a 275/70/16 with a 2 Inch lift and clear with no rubbing.

I have seen 285/70/17's on stock suspension but there was trimming involved.

So if you add a true 2 Inch lift then 285's should fit with no rubbing.
