Wow! That is a messed up situation. Hopefully you get it all settled. I've never heard of something like that happening before but I would definitely be doing everything possible to get that off the record (if you even can).

That’s sweet. Way too logical for the greedy WA state government to do that.

Everyone is gonna sell hahahahaha. But seriously, I’m a big money making type of guy and I’d say if you used your truck for possibly years and got offered more, same or close to the price you purchased at then absolutely sell that bitch! Even if you love the Tacoma, go buy a second wtf! Imagine if someone said “hey, give me 3k and I’ll make your truck brand new and you can change your color of you like”......um yea, where do I sign!

I used carvana to get my estimate and brought it to the dealer to show them, they raised the offer substantially to put me in the 4Runner I was pretend to didn’t want.

drove the taco almost 40k and only had to pay $3k to do so, that’s a deal of a lifetime as far as I’m considered dealing with the stealership.

    Target acquired!
When I was looking for a truck recently I tried Carvana. Everything they had was snapped up sight unseen in some cases for top dollar. Not surprised they are looking for trucks to buy.

Have bought from Carvana in the past, service was top notch and they gave me top dollar for my trade in. Couldn't be happier with the service.

Carvana sure saved a costly mistake of a few TW members:

*SOLD* 2020 DCLB Off-Road MGM Fully Loaded Like New (N.E. OH) $37,000 PRICE REDUCED

This Tacoma had undisclosed defects despite the seller using words like "Pristine Condition" and "excellent condition", whereas when one defect was disclosed on the thread, the post was promptly deleted by TW:

2020 DCLB Off-Road MGM Factory Loaded Pristine Condition (Warren, OH) $39.5k OBO

Thankfully, the TW seller took the easy way out by selling to Carvana, and avoided suckering TW members into a costly trainwreck.

Just a quick follow up to my own post if anyone is interested or ever gets into this situation.

A call to the insurance claims department had this corrected relatively quickly. Seems the claims rep. just closed my claim and did not update the records that I was a witness. Today the claims rep. who knew what he was doing, removed my vehicle from the claim and then changed my participation to a witness only. He said that Carfax will pick up on this. With a raised eyebrow I asked for a letter on letterhead with an explanation as that would be best and he had since sent that. FWIW, a person in my position can go onto carfax and submit corrections with proper docs so if the system does not update as stated, I can at least do that.

Back onto the Carvana subject. Looks like I am getting an $8k deduction due to my market. Living in Pa, I can’t be too surprised as this is one of the states that you can get relatively good discounts on buying a new Tacoma as this is full sized truck country and they’re just not in demand here as other states.

I wasn’t looking to get rid of it though, was just curious of value and I am damn glad sure I checked.

I bought pretty much this truck in December of 2016. MSRP was something like $36,750 or so and I paid 32.2K for a brand new rig. You have got to REALLLY want a Taco to pay almost 37K for a used base OR with 25k miles.

Also, my truck with 50K miles was quoted 26K 'ish from Carvanna so you get somewhat of an idea on their markup. It's healthy.

Also, if all those trucks on Carvana are sold. and you’re selling your truck for the purpose of making money, put it on eBay first. It’s actually a really easy process. When we sold my wife’s Audi last month, I put it on eBay and had the reserve met(which was $1500 more than we paid a year ago for it) within three days. Actually used as leverage to get a really good selling price locally.

10 minutes ago I checked values on my 2018 TRD Pro with about 22k miles and was offered $33720 cash sale or $38106 trade-in value.

I didn’t know about this post but we recently purchased a larger camper and needed a bigger truck than my 19 Sport to pull it with. I just bought my Tacoma 3 months ago as a 1 owner used for $29k. When I looked at trading it in on a bigger truck they offered my 28k. Not a horrible loss. I had a few days so I thought I’d list it at 29500. Had one person contact me. I also looked in car max and Carvana. Carvana offered an instant quote so I thought why not?! Shockingly it came back as $37311! Region adjustment of +$4k. I accepted and they picked it up 6 days ago. My loan has already been paid off by them and the different is in my checking. $8k increase in 3 months is a good deal in my opinion!

In a normal used truck climate this story would be completely unbelievable but things are insane right now...

I'm in the same situation right now with a newish travel trailer & I don't love how the Tacoma pulls it. I live in a mountainous area which isn't quite fair on the 3.5L. What truck did you get?

I just accepted Carvana's offer at 34,844 for my 2020 SR5 DCSB 4x4 (1771 miles). I'm just going to wait it out and get a TRD offroad at the end of the year when production goes up.
