You would have to look into the owners manual to see if it is on the vehicle, I would say yes it is. From what I understand it is part of the ECU. Why would you want to remove it anyways? Plan on doing something stupid?

In principle, and only in Canadian jurisdictions, the information in the EDR is the property of the vehicle owner. The information can only be recovered by law enforcement upon the execution of a search warrant. However, if the vehicle is written off and becomes the property of the insurance company they, as legal owners of the vehicle, become owners of the data contained in the EDR.

A complicating factor is leased vehicles. A leased vehicle always remains the property of the lessor. Therefore, the lessor could give permission to law enforcement to download the data without the need for a search warrant or permission of the lessee.

US jurisdictions may have different laws. In the spritit of full disclosure, I am not a lawyer and therefore can't give competent legal advice.

To answer your question, YES, the 09s have an EDR....it is in black and white in the owner's manual.

I belive they started fazeing them in sometime in 2000. I heard that by 2005 ALL vehicles would have them. I have one in my 07, and my Wife has one in her 06. My '04 Dodge does not have one, but my '05 Jeep does. :(
