    Hey everybody,

I am wondering who of you has had success mounting RTT's on leer fiberglass shells. There is conflicting information everywhere I look, and LEER told me that I will void the warranty if i drill into the shell. I'd like to have the setup mounted before a trip in August. The RTT weighs 158 pounds. I don't want to come home with a broken topper and broken RTT. Any information is helpful!

As many as I can fabricate
I would not. When you get into that tent it's not 158......it's at least 300, then add the kids or wife...You know. If this was the commercial model with added interior support, and the ladder rack, yeah...go for it. Fiberglass is tough, but not that tough. Just my opinion.
The reason this has got fewer responses is no one wants to recommend it. I was just on yellowbullet and a fellow recommended 60flbs on spark plugs. Of course he broke it off on the first one. You think that guy would pay for the repair for the poor guy...hell no.

Well considering Leer shows the new branded tent on top of one of their caps I wouldn't worry. Did it come with the tracks installed ?

I had my Tepui mounted on my fiberglass cap/canopy/shell/topper/thing that covers the bed with Yakima tracks and had no problems.

If you have Thule or Yakima tracks you could add on an extra set of mounting feet to better distribute the weight on the shell using a good rack like a Prinsu or Front Runner. A lot of RTTs offload the weight onto the ladder and the static weight limits are way higher than the dynamic ratings. I'd say you'd be okay if you mount the RTT properly.

iKamper 2.0 on a Prinsu rack. Weighs around 200lbs including the rack.
