I think it is more to the number of people not working / working from home / working part-time that has changed the pattern. Normally here Fridays and Sunday afternoons are hard to get across highway 24 as it is bumper-to-bumper campers but since all the changes it starts on Wednesday and go through Tuesday - camper sales here have gone through the roof - there will be a lot of used campers for sale when this is all done.

Mike in October 1989, before ski season, I was in Banff enjoying a soak in the outdoor hot tub when close to 10 Elk showed up to enjoy the heat from the hot water. One of the trip highlights.

I agree, yesterday was my yearly, and now I've been bumped up to every 6 months. Wearing a hat 24/7 didn't :help:.

    Afternoon all:
    It's pouring here again! :(

That picture is awesome Mike, they are beautiful creatures.
For years I didn't want to shoot doe, only those nasty buck, now it seems like PA wants every deer killed in the state.
Its a large area, but Pa issued 11,000 additional doe licenses this year for the "deer management" zone I live in, figure that will be app. 20-30,000 less deer next year if they are all filled. When this "deer management" first started guys had 6-8-10 doe licenses and were bragging about all the deer they were getting, didn't take long before those same guys were complaining that they weren't seeing any deer!

Well well well...a kid was fired yesterday for a posting on a social media site.
I don't know what it was, nor do I care. That sounds harsh but I even know better than that.

I’m sure glad there was no social media when I was young, I probably Would of been banned from working anywhere. On this site and all others I’m very careful about what I post.

At some point a really good lawsuit needs to be filed that separates what one does at work from their private time. Now if he posted while at work, well that's different. But even on a break or lunchtime it's the employees time. Too many employers these days think they own an employee from the second they hire on until they leave. They have no respect of a persons personal time. I once had an employer tell me if I didn't work overtime I would be terminated. I invited them to terminate me. They left me alone after that.

Depends on whose computer/network he/she did the posting from. If it was the employer's then they have every right to terminate -even if they were on their lunch/break

Once again, whose time?-- if they are on the clock (not on break or lunch) then the employer has the right to fire -- in other words they were not doing the job they were being paid to do.
I am sure this is becoming a big problem for employers as there are a lot of workers out there f-ing off on their phones during the work day. Call me old fashioned if you want but that is my belief and I am sticking to it! Look - I can understand a call taken here and there, but if you think employees are not abusing the phone time --then you are misinformed and/or out of touch with reality.

I know of folks being fired for posting to their own social media on their own time, on their personal computers. Until these companies get sued for violating 1st amendment rights (and who has the money for that) it will only get worse. I detest corporate thought police, they have to pay me 24 hours a day if they want that much control o_O

I know that in the government some employees are not allowed to have a Facebook account period.

Companies have already been sued - or threatened with lawsuits for it. The issue is what the company/organization publishes as its social media or other policies. We dismissed several students from our college based on their posting threats of violence against other students on their social media sites in violation with our published policies in the student handbook. Not doing so would have opened the college to liability had they carried out the threats.

Without knowing what this person posted and the context, it's hard to make a judgment. But, the reality of today is that what you post on social media is fair game if it crosses the line from protected speech and that's been upheld in courts already.

There was a guy who used to post comments and walk around town with a big sign saying that I and a company the college worked with "enjoyed killing babies for cash." Because I was considered a public official, he was protected by the 1st Amendment. But, if he said that I had "killed babies" he would have crossed the line and I could have sued him because he would have asserted that I actually committed a crime. He walked the line and he knew what he was doing...most other people don't.

Damnit. It's Saturday, why am I up so early? Oh yeah, it's the lightning flashing and thunder rattling the windows. Plus the cat meowing in my ear to tell me it's lightning and thundering outside.

And Good morning to you all.:hattip:

:pccoffee:  We lucked out on the rainstorms last night and were spared the worst of it, which appeared to go around us to the north and especially to the south. Tornado warnings etc. for those counties.

Today I'm going to work with my neighbor to help another neighbor get her driveway put back where it belongs. He has a tractor with a front end loader, I'll be the one with the shovel in my hand. I have selfish reasons for doing this -- I rent space in a giant garage on her property, and that is the part of the driveway that needs fixing.

If you post violent threats you’re already breaking the law so that’s not protected speech. The cases I have first hand knowledge of were political in nature against certain organizations that are controversial. I take exception to corporations setting themselves up as “high lords” making the determination of what constitutes “hate speech” by someone on their own Facebook page on their own time, those corporate types have their own political bias and tend to tolerate what might be called hate speech in the “other” political direction.

Now on to more pleasant discussions it’s a nice day out there :)

anyone here dealing with "Trigger Finger", and if so what have you done to help fix it. I have 2 appointments this week. 1 for carpal tunnel testing, and 2nd for MRI of both hands. this shit is painful as hell, and is driving me nuts. wakes me up at night, and in the morning I can barely move my fingers.

My sister just had surgery - they corrected both Carpal Tunnel and Trigger Finger on her left hand. She recovered quickly and was back playing golf in a week.
