I have a plate frame with the dealership name on it. That's on the back only. I have nothing on the front and it's not required in PA. I did however buy it in Maryland where a front plate is required and didn't trade in and transfer a plate so I have a MD temp tag. I'm amazed that they didn't mount the front plate bracket when it was being prepared.

When I get my PA plates in going to remove the dealership frame and just put the new truck plate on naked. The Frame seems to keep the paper plate flat.

This has always bugged me. Every license plate frame I have tried fades in the sun and also has those annoying caps for the screws made of cheap plastic. After a few months the top of the cap comes off and you have a steel screw with a weird plastic frame around it. After looking at 9,000 options I just decided to get a set of black license plate screws and screw the plate in front and back. It draws less attention and looks clean and simple.

If you are interested, these are those crazy caps that I hate. They eventually come off:
    https://www.amazon.com/Cruiser-Acce...sor's+plate+screw+caps&qid=1597086075&sr=8-16

So I went with something like this for a cleaner and neater look:
    https://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Fa...9Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Amazing that there isn't a better way. But to be fair, my BMW is worse. Dealer said just pick up a set of those carbon steel frames for $94 a piece. I died ...

Yes, I am obsessed with license plate screws. But hey it is one of the few mods a guy like me can pull off. :)

I have never used any thing like that. If there were screws in any vehicle I bought I used them. The last time I paid for license plate screws was for the camper. I found a 4 pack of simple stainless steel screws for it at auto zone. I still have 2 left and just found the package cleaning out the center console of the Jeep. They haven't rusted on the camper yet. Probably use them on the truck

I hear you. But the black screws only cost a few bucks and look a lot better. :). I think I paid $4 for them. Hey, it is a new truck. Splurge.

    I bought 4 of these:

Black does look good. anything that don't rust is good. no caps and no frames for me once that real plate comes in the mail. I think I'll pass on a vanity front plate too. I like the way the front of the Tacoma looks as is.

I am with you. The black looks good. It will look good on your cement colored truck. It just goes away and you hardly notice it. If it rusts I guess I can always replace them or paint them. No caps and no frames for me, either.

I am vain, for sure, but not needed a vanity plate. :). I accidentally got the historic plate which in NY is okay looking but not great. The historic CA plates look great. Ours, not so much.

If you go with the black screws turn them in by hand and then cover the edge of your screw driver with tape or a napkin so that you don't chew them up and remove the black. I did that on one and colored the scratches in with a black Sharpie. Hey, I told you I was vain ! Just kidding. I wanted no plate frame and the screws to just go away and not be noticed or stand out. It worked.

I actually have a full color historic plate on the Jeep. I was thinking about keeping it, see if I could get the plate transfered once I sell the Jeep. It's the Flagship Niagra plate. The one they ended because the state police and we'll all the cops said it was way too hard to read. Not a good contrast between white letters and the painting that is the background. I've had it since 1997. It's still considered a useable plate but if you let it expire they will never let you use it again.

If it were me I would keep it and use it ... but as far as plates go that is one terrible looking plate ... and makes no sense. :).

Lots of nice plates out there. NY plates are so ugly I just give up. Those Cali plates though look old school sharp:
    https://thelicenseplatesite.com/275...m-aluminum-personalized-license-plate-tag.htm

Don't get me wrong. I love Canada. Would move there in a heartbeat. Family there. But why are their plates so painfully ugly:

Sorry. I digress. But it is a Monday. :)

I think I like the northwest territory plate.
As for the Niagara plate I have. Well I'm 50/50 on trying to keep on a vehicle or just resign it to my small collection of old plates.

In the state of MA they now take pics of the plates during inspection. They won't inspect the car if there is a lic plate frame on it - they want full view of the plate. Every year I take it off, get the car inspected, go home and put it back on.

I'm expecting this to happen here since covid the state of Pennsylvania has stepped up it's plan to go cashless on the Turnpike. Now if you don't have an ez-pass transponder they are billing by plate. Lots of people have big frames and those tinted plastic covers. I'm sure the cameras no like those and the Turnpike wants paid so a law will come soon enough.
Pay by plate tolls are wicked expensive too. Almost 50% more than EZ-pass.
