My 09 isn’t blowing as cold as it used to and today I measured it with a digital thermometer. It leveled off around 49/50 degrees and from what I read it should be in the high 30’s. So I’m assuming it needs service but don’t have any idea what to expect for cost and who to take it to. I’ve never had any a/c work done and don’t know where to start.

I had the same situation with my 2009 - blowing cold, but not "as cold as it should"
I added cheap-o wal mart refrigerant with a basic hose/gauge borrowed form a friend. It lasted about a year before I had to add some more. There's a good chance we both have a small leak somewhere in the system.
AC Pro has a refrigerant that includes sealant to help prevent future leaks. I haven't tried it yet but it seems promising..

    Good luck!

    Reserected from the dead.
Please don't use the refrigerant with the sealant. It rarely works and makes it impossible for a future proper repair.

The best option since you don't know about the AC System is to take it to a shop that does AC Service and have them evaluate it. It could be as simple and cheap as replacing a schrader valve ( 10 - 20 bucks ) or it could be as expensive as replacing the evaporator core ( thousands $$$$ ). Ask your friends and relatives to recommend someone they have used.

No, after I posted this I ended up needing to replace my entire front brake system and center bearing and u joints. Total of $1500 so the AC is on hold.
