My response was to theesotericone about not buying flipped homes. I'm not saying remodeling a house for profit is wrong, I've seriously considered doing it myself. However, in the home buying process the realtors work at keeping the buyer and seller apart. (I've sold 2 houses in the past 3 years and never once talked to a potential buyer.) There is no way for a buyer to know to what standard the remodeling was done. Was every possible corner cut to save time and money or was it done to a high professional standard? How are people, like my niece, without a DIY bone in their body to know the difference? Because home inspectors apparently don't have to see huge and obvious remodeling flaws.

If the shoe fits, which you did say "I probably won’t use a company like window world in my forever home but this was a remodel home for me." I'm not saying you're doing anything wrong. It is just my opinion based on seeing a number of flipped/remodeled homes that corners get cut. I get that maybe there is a difference between flipped and remodeled. To be technically correct my niece's house was completely remodeled, by the owner, over a couple of years. Like theesotericone if I were in your place I'd probably foam the gap and move on.

Fortunately for people that remodel houses for profit, nobody follows my advice. :burp:

I’m in the middle of repainting my kitchen cabinets and of course my Black and Decker Mouse sander bit the dust this morning.

Its been a great sander and I’ve had it for like 10 years.

I’m wondering if you guys have any recommendations for good sanders?

I like the triangle shape and it using velcro for a sand paper attachment is a must. I have a Porter Cable finish sander I hate because it has clips instead of velcro.

I don’t mind dropping some coin for one that has good dust collection on it.

I just threw away a sander from harbor freight. The start stop was going out, and the velcro hooks was falling off. But it lasted a long time....i have lots of ryobi battery stuff so i got one of those, it has the velcro. I hate clips too.

My dad is a woodworker and has a Festool. I remember it being a dream to use but at $200+ its a little steep. Its also an orbital so no mouse shape.

I got the Ryobi with bag that allows you to hook up a dust collection system and I’ll do that.

So far that thing is awesome. Its quiet and doesn’t vibrate my arm off :D

Wish my other one broke a long time ago lol

Here’s a tip. Often the valve will get a wee bit of solid material stuck inside. If you push water backwards you can remove it. Works better still if you energize the valve while doing so.

Try it and you might have a good spare. Also check the screens on the incoming water lines for damage or you could be right back where you started in a bit.

I think the seal on the valve was going bad. I can’t complain too much, this thing is 12 years old at least.

That is a JOKE!!!! A proper window fit is one where there is 1/4 inch play around the opening the window is going in. Anything else is a mis-order and/or a mis-measure. Anything else is a lie and the people puting them in should loose their business / constuction permit or license to do business in your area.
That is some of the worst window installs I have seen. If you pay for this --- oh well you get my point!

I will suggest the Bosch 3725 or the 3726. While it will not get in the corners like the pointy sanders, it WILL outperform any other Random orbit sander I have used and or seen. this includes the Dewalt and the porter cable. Someone once told me the Fein is better -- but it is also about 100 bucks more. I have been using my 3725 for about 10+ years, and my only complaint is they go thru the hook and loop pads sort of quick. But lately I have found a solution to this -there is a company (home depot sells them) Diablo. they have a intermediate pad that goes between the bosch pad and and your sanding disc. these diablo pads are replaceable, but I have not worn one out yet.

Well, I may have jumped the gun on my son about the tile grout. I just grouted the ceiling tile in the shower last night, I could not trowel it in and sponge it fast enough. Avalon Flooring sold us ‘fast setting’ grout... NEVER buy this!!

Alright guys, bought some LVP to do my floors and I’m pulling carpet and everything and come across this.

What’s next move, vacuum up mess, remove baseboard in this area, and then remove plywood and then take another photo for you guys to examine or am I missing a step?

Please know I’m a rookie, but willing to learn.

anyways this seems strange to me, but maybe it’s not. Who would run baseboard behind the fireplace??

Also since the plywood runs under the fireplace I’m assuming just cut the spot where the rot is and size it for a patch of plywood and patch of Sheetrock?
