Good post, Timmer! FWIW, airing down only widens the tire a little bit, but, it also lengthens the contact patch. Since the contact patch can be looked at as a circle, ( useing the "pie r squared rulle) airing down can give you close to 4 times the contact patch or more, than a non aired down tire would give. Also, Tire makers sizes can be off as much as 10%, so a 265/75/16 BFG may be smaller than a 265/75/16 Goodyear MTR. :)

new to this thread!...sorry people but im kind of lazy going back and reading every single post to look for the answer to my question. so please help me out. im gettin the tsb done on monday and of course the rear is going to sit a bit higher. I want a small lift. Im just going to lift the front end to have a prerunner look to it. Im putting 285/70/16 on the stock wheels, i know they will clear the front, but will they clear the rear?

"the tire your getting, a 285/70R16 is 11.5 wide and 32.1 high so with 5100's at 1.75 You will likely experiance the rub if your forced to load up the front suspension ATW and do a hard right." -timmer

thanks timmer for all the good advice..

my rim is 17 inches, but i'm sure it all still applies..

i've decided to go with a 265/70/R17, only one size up from stock (would maybe try 265/75/R17 if michelin had one), but it will be my daily driver for quite some time to come and with frequently hauling several hundred pounds on the weekends i could do without the potential rubbing.

i'll be putting 5100's all around and setting the front to 1.75". with an inch going into the back causing the front to tilt a little i figure setting the front at 1.75" will only change the overall picture/stance by about a half inch (i've chosen not to level), hardly enough to make much of a difference in appearance.

Hard to make a tacoma look bad no matter how you play it..

    thanks again for everyone's help!

    will post pics soon!

    Hi 1Badtoy,

Have you done your mods already? What size of tire did you put in? I plan to do the same but with 265/75R16 tires? Did you post picture somewhere?

    Thanks.
