Hi guys, I recently hit 85k miles on my Tacoma. It’s no longer my daily driver, I use it on the beach and as a utility truck as needed. I had the oil changed recently and the mechanic said my rear shocks need replacement soon (all suspension is stock). I’m definitely noticing some issues in the front right shock when going over bumping roads or sand. I’m ordering the Bilstein 5100s as replacements. What notch setting will give me a nice level ride? I don’t want the nose to be too high. Thanks!

I have a 2009 pre-runner. I just recently installed 5100 front and back. The rear shocks have no adjustment but the front shocks do. I went just up to the first notch which if I remember correctly is .875” and it leveled my truck out very nicely.

Do you have to match shocks
Can you go Bilstein 5100s in front to level truck and OEM Bilstein in the back, just to save a little money
    Thanks

I would stay with the same. When I checked prices when I bought my 5100’s, there wasn’t a much difference in price. Maybe a $20 difference.

I got billies front and rear . The new shocks to me at least in the rear felt like the truck handled bumps better it wasn’t jumping from side to side if that makes sense. And replacing the rears are really easy

You can totally do just the fronts if you want. Probably a good idea to upgrade the rears eventually.

The .85" setting will put you at level. 1.75 and you will be nose high. The numbers are deceiving, I swear I got more than 1" with mine set at .85". Even crawled under the truck to verify they set them correctly.
