Can someone explain to me how the ECU’s auto transmission shift point map deals with a regearing in a 3G Taco?

I understand the basics of gear ratio, but am confused as to how the auto transmission adapts to the new ratio, and why it doesn’t end up all messed up, with hard shifts and whatnot. How can it seem to adapt without any issues, for something that seems so complex in its operation (see the OV Tune description of the operation of a 3G auto)?

Is it all just based on torque tables, with no consideration of wheel speed or engine RPMs? Is it just magic and don’t overthink it?

Any legit answers are appreciated. I don’t mind the odd shitpost as well to add life to this thread.

It is not so complex, the AT adapts to the engine rpm and torque independent of the gearing.
