2020 Capable of wireless Android Auto?

So I just bought a 2020 with the new android auto and I'm in the market for a new phone. From what I can tell, only certain phones and certain head units are actually capable of wireless android auto and I currently don't have a phone capable of this.

Before I spend a bunch of money on a capable phone, can anyone confirm that the new head units are actually capable of wireless android auto?

 

They just got android auto and carplay, they're probably not wireless

I was more concerned about the capability of the 2020 stock headunit, which judging by your reddit post is NOT capable of wireless AA.

Curious, could you use a wifi usb adapter to connect to android instead of a cable, anyone tried that?

 

Someone on XDA-developers is working on a USB dongle to convert wired Android Auto to wireless, beta testing and kickstarter fund raising in the next few weeks.
