Is it loose from the factory; or, working itself loose?
The crush gaskets look crushed to me.

No way they worked themselves loose. A properly torqued down spark plug will never loosen up, especially one with a crush washer.

    Toyota spec is 13 ft/lb
Denso spec for a 14mm flat seat plug in aluminum heads is 15-22 ft/lb

I stopped reading after this. Not trying to stereotype you, but you sound like one of "those" guys. You could have saved yourself 50% by getting the plugs from someone other than the dealer. Of course you wouldn't have that red box that says Toyota, but you do realize that Toyota gets the plugs in bulk from Denso and just drops them in that box you throw away, right?

This sounds like the whole leaf spring torque spec debate. Toyota needs to get their torque specs figured out.

You sound like a fun guy to hang out with, the people you surround yourself with must love your company.

Correct, they are Denso 3491 plugs in a Toyota box and they go for $17+ all day. I could have saved myself a whopping $4 per plug had I bought them somewhere else. No one had them locally and I wanted to get it done over the weekend since I had the spare time. I’m sorry you were so offended that I spent an extra $20 that you “stopped reading”. I hope one day I can live up to your standards.

I went with the dealer to try to avoid knock offs. Wasn't that much more expensive especially with coupon

I didn’t think I would get a knockoff at any of the big name auto parts stores but neither Napa, Advance Auto Parts, Autozone, or O-Reilly’s had them locally. I was headed to the dealer to get ATF anyways, so after wasting 30 minutes on the phone calling all these places, I figured I would save myself the hassle and just spend the extra money. $24 extra to prevent a headache or hassle is worth it every time IMO and is not even close to a 50% savings according to @Sungod.

Wait, your costs change? I thought you said you paid just under $22 per plug. Now you are getting them for $17?:confused:

Yeah they go for $17+ at local parts stores and $21+ at the dealer. That doesn’t calculate to a 50% savings now does it?

And like I said, no one had them in stock and I wasn’t going to drive 50+ miles to another parts store to save an earth shattering $24 versus buying them at the dealer that I was already going to for transmission fluid. Christ, I can’t believe I’m even having to spell this out. You’re one of those people that drives 10 miles out of your way to save 2 cents a gallon on gas, aren’t you?

With the few cases of loose plugs on the V6 kicking around here and YouTube, I thought I'd give er a go and check em for shits n giggles.

If nothing else, it'll be a data point down the road because they were all tight (only 15K Km on the truck).

Meh, I was rotating the tires anyway ;)

Were they loose? Or is it something you’re planning on doing in the near future?

    They were tight.

If they are loose down the road when it comes time to inspect 'em, well I'll know what happened (very unlikely I know).
