Let me know if there is anything I can do to change your mind. It sounds like you may have tightened the center vert too much which could cause other parts of the system to not function properly. In addition, you really shouldn't have any issues with the system rattling around while driving on bumpy roads so I suspect something is up with this system.

You shouldn't have any issues with your system rattling or bouncing around. The DECKED system will be secured on each of the 4 corners of your truck bed and the drawers themselves should have very little wiggle room inside of the system. If you have rattling or hear the system bouncing around there is a good chance something may have gone wrong in the installation process. We are always happy to help walk through those steps to avoid that happening.

That being said. If you have loose items in the drawers and are on a bumpy road then you will have gear bouncing around just as you would normally in the bed of a truck. We like to use our Crossbox and D-box to avoid any unnecessary movement of gear.

 

I'm gonna say you didn't know what you were doing during install...

 

Well, say what you will, but like you I have a pretty technical background and wouldn't consider that installation a modification or major install. The instructions are great and those drawers aren't close tolerance, if you fill those suckers up and drive down a logging road and open that back window... You're gonna hear something.

 

Well sure. It’s not a damn memory foam mattress lol. But in general even down rough driving roads you’re not gonna hear it at all. I wheeled with it and never noticed any noise from the decked system over any other noise occurring. Nor did any fasteners or anything else move. It all worked perfect.

I sold my setup because I just didn’t use it for what I wanted and the bed space was a bit more valuable for me, but it was one of the nicest quality products I have ever owned.

So, a guy got a Decked for a full size. Cut just enough off the top wings on left and right side and fit it in his Tacoma. Since the cubbies were essentially cut in half, no lid now. With the tops open he can access the factory cubbies. Thought that was pretty cool. Unfortunately its a video in a Facebook group. So I cant really link it.

 

Finally picked up a DECKED System for the truck... took it home on Sunday, uninstalled it that night, then started to get the outlets and so forth ready for the system to go back into the truck.



One of the previous owners of the system had gone a little crazy with the Dremel I guess.

I had to do better and make some covers for the giant holes they had put in the passenger side ammo can (forgot to take some before pictures of the butchering of it). One cheap IKEA cutting board later and a 2 gang waterproof electrical cover... way better and looks a lot cleaner.

Took me about a minute to take apart the wiring connector to be able to just run it through a 1/2" hole instead of what they had done...




Also made a cover for the hole where the electrical outlet was.


Now I just need to relocate the drivers' side USB outlet I had installed in the drivers side cubby and figure out a way to use the J hooks as I did not get the hooks from the used sale, but I have an idea on that.


Other than that, all I need to do now is order a set of locks, a Drawgernizer, and somehow find just the Wide Drawer dividers. But dang is shipping a lot lol

2 things about the system.

1) In a 2nd gen long bed, what’s the height gain from the stock bed floor to the top of the deck?
2) I’m potentially looking at loading my quad on this. Because my truck is 4x4, the ramps I have now work ok to reach the tailgate, so I am in need of a solution to bridge the height of the deck from the tailgate.

 

1) All of our DECKED Drawer Systems are 12" tall.
2) Holding an ATV on top is no problem at all. Our system has a 2000 pound payload so theoretically you could stack two ATVs on top (if you could figure that out). The ramp question is one we see a lot as that space between the tailgate and top of the DECKED system can be tough to navigate and we wouldn't want you to try to gun it and clear the gap. Our best solution is using a 9' folding ramp that will clear the tailgate and load right on to the top of your DECKED System. Titan ramps makes a great option.
We have also seen a few people build a wedge style ramp to fill the gap if you want to keep your current ramp.

Wall to wall carpet.

 

I saw a local Decked system used for a Gen 2. I looked on the site and it appears the Gen 2 and Gen 3 have different part numbers. Are the Gen 2 and Gen 3 systems not compatible? I have a Gen 3 Tacoma. Looks like MT6 VS MT8

You are correct, the Gen 2 and Gen 3 Tacomas will have different fitments and mounting components so you will need to make sure you get the exact product for your model to ensure a proper fitment.
