Just wanted to share this quick comparison shot of the MT and AT. The Sriracha special on the left is the manual and Black one on the right is the auto version.

Haha the red does look pretty cool but unfortunately it's just a test a print, it's not the right filament.

Here's the install for the bezel, while stopping to take photos and what not the entire install took me less than an hour. There's other ways to get to those wires, this is just the way I did it. Please note at the time I took these photos I was using a previous version of the bezel. So this install doesn’t show the led on the bezel except for in the final steps. Disclaimer: Install at your own discretion, I'm not responsible if you break anything or if your truck implodes into another dimension.

    What you need:
    • 10mm Socket + Wrench
    • Pliers
    • Unibit + Drill
    • Trim Removal Tool
    • Small Flat Head

    1. Remove and unplug A/C Controls which reveals the Two 10mm bolts holding in the radio.

    TacomaWirelessCharger - 01.jpg

    2. Remove the Radio and the surrounding black bezel as well as the coin tray to the right of the steering wheel.

    TacomaWirelessCharger - 02.jpg

    3. Next step is to remove the surrounding silver trim piece which makes it much easier to complete the next step. Using a small flathead pop out the two clip/pins above the speedo cluster. Once that’s removed pry/pull out the silver trim piece which will give you access to the cigarette lighter harness.

    TacomaWirelessCharger - 031.jpg
    TacomaWirelessCharger - 032.jpg

    4. Unplug the plug from the backside of the cigarette lighter, I used the left side one. Using the supplied maroon T-Taps, tap into Switched Power (Green) and Ground (White with Black). Next using the supplied wiring harness plug the connectors into their coinciding T-Taps.

    TacomaWirelessCharger - 04.jpg

    5. Next you will be drilling a small hole for the cable to feed into the cubby. Start by removing the cup holder pocket by just pulling up and unclipping. In the photo I drill the hole on the right side of the cubby but it is best to drill on the left. You just want to make sure the hole is hidden below where the charger sits. Run the harness down the left side of the dash and into the cubby.

    TacomaWirelessCharger - 05.jpg

    6. Remove the tape that’s attached to the top of the charging unit and slide it into the bezel with the plug for the power cable facing the drivers side. This will place the led towards the front of the bezel. (I have it opposite in the picture)

    TacomaWirelessCharger - 06.jpg

    7. Plug everything in and put everything back together. Enjoy your new wireless charger!

    TacomaWirelessCharger - 07.jpg

*** Attaching the LED portion for AT Trucks Only ***

Note: These come unfinished so if you’re planning on sanding down and painting the bezel you’re going to want to do that first before adhering the mat down and gluing the acrylic piece for the led in place.

    8. Slide the straight acrylic rod through the hole, it's going to be a tight fit (That's what she said) The top side will have a slight dome on it. Your going to want to trim the rod so it sits flush with the bottom side of the bezel.

    20200816_165729 - Edited.jpg

    9. Before inserting the charger in the bezel attach the gray piece to the front led spot and slide the curved acrylic rod like pictured below. It doesn't have to be exact, it just needs to point towards the bottom side bezel hole. (If the rod needs to bent in anyway it can easily be heated up with a heat gun or lighter and reshaped)

Seems how I’ve never had one, is the charger always “on”? One of my pet peeves is the 12v socket only on with the key so the phone won’t charge when I’m outta the truck. I’m thinking I might give it it’s own power supply if it only turns on when the phone is in it.

If the truck is on and there's no phone on it the charger will be on but in a standby mode. If the truck is off then the charger is off. You could wire it to constant power if you want but I'm sure it will still draw power with nothing on it.

You're welcome! FWIW, I've run this mod for years with no problems. Note, however, that leaving something plugged in when the truck is off can/will result in a dead battery.

Have you thought of putting in like an otter box 10,000 wireless charging because you could still charge after the truck shuts off and then it would probably just have a small usb to the usbport.

It’s 2020, is it to much to ask to be able to toss my phone in there, have a smart media player that’s hooked to my OBII that can log onto TW and pull up the thread on how to fix it and get my damn parts ordered from Amazon while I’m sleeping and not have to shove some tin foil in a relay to charge my phone when the truck is off:anonymous:

I'm interested in this also. I have a defender case and have run into issues with wireless chargers. I have a Samsung phone and have tried with Samsung chargers along with Pure gear (licensed to sell for Samsung) and they will show that it is charging, but eventually fast charger will stop and the phone doesn't really charge. Last time I tried I got 8% in 1hr and the back of the case was hot as hell. Hotter than it should be while charging. I would love to have a wireless charger on my computer desk but my defender case Is the limit.

So are you taking the whole dash apart just to get to the wire harness behind the left 12volt socket? Those sockets pop right out with almost no effort as I just popped one out to put in a Volt Meter. I put a rear console 12volt dual usb charger between the cup holders, and there is a ground and power lead under the shifter console. Can those be tapped into to make use of this charger?

You could always wire the power to a constant 12v and run a switch in between. That way you could run it with the truck off. Only thing is you're going to be leaving your phone in your truck without you there and it's going to drain the battery. @Shadowhunter idk about iphones but on an android phone you could always run a routine to do that once the phone is charging (minus Amazon)
