Beat sonic Apple Carplay vs aftermarket radio

So BeatSonic has the Apple Carplay add on for our OEM radios... for $500.

I’m not at all against an aftermarket radio. But I want something that will retain all my OEM functionality like gauge cluster compass/directions, factory mic, steering wheel controls AND front facing/ rear facing anytime cameras.
Anyone have any good suggestions /pics?

Does such a radio exist? Or am I looking for a unicorn?

 

I think it only works with JBL models for Tacoma's

Yes from what I remember

 

I’ve heard that it works with either system but doesn’t look as crisp with the non JBLs.
Either way I’m leaving towards an aftermarket system

 

I had the Beat Sonic on my truck before. OP is right, the Android Auto and Apple Car Play picture do not come in crisp at all. So I went with an aftermarket radio.

 

@ToyodaTruck which radio did you get? And did it retain all or any OEM functionality?

Pioneer DMH-WC6600NEX. It is very nice but very expensive. Everything from OEM headunit was retained except the compass on the small dash screen that sits in the middle of the milesage/rpm/gas/overheating gauge.

You were able to keep your stock mic functionality? Or did you run the aftermarket mic to the same location? Clarifying bc I haven’t seen an aftermarket unit yet that allows you to keep the mic, even if iDatalink Maestro, so I’ll probably snag this if it does.

 

I was not able to retain my oem mic. I use and ran an aftermarket mic to the stock mic location. To my knowledge, there is no way to retain the oem mic with any after market head unit.
