Dealer locally sells the factory filter and throws in the washer for $5.75. I just stop by, run away from the salesmen chasing me, and go by the parts dept. and grab one when I’m nearby and getting close to oil change time.

Can you explain how your vehicle runs quieter? How did you measure this? Please share the testing Methods including the type of equipment used to measure this. I think you bought the ad hype hook line and sinker, lol. On a more personal level do you have any training or experience to back up your claims?

Not that I care how you spend your money but it saddens me to see people taken advantage of.

Concerning the fakes I buy from two different Toyota dealers on EBay. One on east coast the other in Florida.

i wish I had a decibel reader and could’ve checked the one time I did have RP oil vs the oil I have now. Only difference I ever saw with Royal Purple was the difference in cost

a decibel meter. My previous vehicle was a 335 with a N54 engine. I built the engine to race. I had a tune that plugged into a laptop where I could measure everything temperature wise, boost etc. when I switched to RP my engine oil temp dropped 20 degrees at normal operating temps and after “heavy” use and drags I averaged 20 degrees cooler as well over Castrol. The oil in my catch can also decreased. Overall my car performed better. Including quieting my lifters. Also the crankshaft was significantly cleaner. (The n54 requires routine walnut shell cleaning due to carbon build up you have to open it up to do this which is how I know this).

will i notice these things in the Toyota, probably not as it’s not a race car. However the quieter idle is noticeable. However I personally prefer to use it.

however it seems you are bothered that someone else has a different opinion and preference to things they choose to spend their money on. Based off other postings I’ve seen of yours, you seem to like throwing insults at people. Anyways enjoy your keyboard warring.

20 degrees cooler, what if you live in Alaska, -20 degrees equals -40 degrees:eek:

I’m surprised no ones mentioned Project Farm yet. He did a whole series of videos testing many popular high quality oils on both performance and additive contents. Good wheels to the road practical testing, not ‘in a lab under very specific’ This is just the championship round. Check out his channel for the full playlist if you’re interested.

    That is just not true.
Base oils can be different, additives can be different.

And you wonder why oil threads get a bad name? o_O

    Couple things:

-Didn't say Chinese oil. I said Chinese parts and generic oil. I'll make that clear for the second time in this thread. Most can see there's a distinction there but I guess my level of education doesn't allow me to define it in such a way that the Ministry of Viscosity can understand. Hey, at least I can read (and comprehend a simple sentence without jumping to conclusions).

-Sorry about the use of profanity. I try not to do so here as not to offend strangers with different world views. However, given the local dealer's standard for service and workmanship, I assure you, @jbrnigan, the sentiment (and profanity) was used accordingly.

Enjoy your lubricants, boys. I'm out.
