Finally found a truck! After you all gave me some advice on the first truck I went to test drive, I found a different one that was in great shape and lowish miles...and I was quick to the draw and beat everyone else to it!

It's newer and more expensive than I budgeted, but it is nicer and will last me longer so I am happy.

2009 Tacoma SR5 with 105,500 miles on it.

Now to start with fluid changes (previous owner did not have maintenance records for me).

    Thanks for your help!

Congrats! Looks like a nice truck. I've found the key to good deals in the second hand market is being quick.

    Great truck!!

    Indeed. Don't blink. Move fast.

Missed out on a few and learned my lesson and went to a dealership the first day they had a truck I might want in hand...wasnt even on the web yet. They just got tried in as a trade-in that day and the sales rep told me about it.

Hadn't even been vacuumed...pieces of crushed pretzel everywhere.

It was perfect and I bought it that day. Came back the next day to pick it up after it was detailed.

Got mine like 5 or 6 years ago at a local ford dealership, so nobody was looking there, lol. Also, nobody wants a stick, so had been there a while.

awesome truck, what's the first mod?

+1 for being quick. I suffered the same for a while until I found my truck at a Ford dealership, mislabeled as a trd offroad instead of the baja it actually was. scooped it up real quick.

    Sadly, not much.
I also got mine at a Ford Dealership! They had it posted on Craigslist, but wasn't showing up in the search! I went in, test drove, and got them to lower the price by $1,500 and bought that night! Was a single owner 2008 DCLB with 68k. I couldn't be happier!

    Thanks, everyone!

Not sure what first mod will be. I'm not much of an off-road guy, I will mostly be using this truck for light landscaping around the house, camping, and accessing 4x4 trail heads for hiking/running here in the CO mountains. I'm mostly on TW for maintenance tips and tricks (not extremely mechanically knowledgeable, but have been slowly learning how to do my own maintenance between my previous car and my wife's CR-V). I will probably swap out the stock stereo for something more modern (Bluetooth capabilities at least, carplay would be nice). I have also seen a small little mod to the rear-view camera where a guy installed a switch for it to be "always on" if needed. I would like this for parking this thing in my tight garage to avoid hail.

In that case. first thing IMO you should check is to see if the unifilter mod has been done, or if you can still remove the foam filter. video linked, costs about $15 and 5 minutes to swap it out.

If you go to the stickies for the 2nd gen forum, there's a few threads on a bunch of mods and DIY's, one of which is for the reverse camera anytime mod.

Thanks for the links and tips! I don’t think my 2009 has that secondary air pump in it.
