Now with those rims on, when you look at your front tire clearance with the wheel turned at the tightest spot to hitting plastic or cab mount, do you think 255/80/17 would have fit without rubbing? (I’m debating between the two sizes)

I hear ya, that’s one of the first things I checked. On my truck, there’s about 3/4” of clearance at the tightest spot (front outside corner) so I could have fit a 255/80. Didn’t want to risk it so I went conservative. Probably will go for it on the next set.

That depends on what your doing with your truck. If you are planning on offloading then chances are the rigid mudguards are going to be no bueno.
If you have negative offset wheels (or plan to get a set) and larger than stock tires, chances are you'll wind up rubbing tires on the flaps (annoying).

Also take into consideration the fact that the Toyota OEM flaps are for trucks with fender flares (at least I believe). Most of us SR folks have no flares, so you will have some type of gap with the OEM flaps and no flares.
Weather tec makes a rigid set for flareless tacos.
I personally bought 2 sets of 9x15 plasticolor flaps. You'll have to do some measuring and poke holes in them as they are "universal fit". If your looking for better coverage I'd go with 11x19. I stuffed mine up high and have them sticking past the fender a good inch, but I got them mainly for paint protection.

If your plan is just sticking with oem wheel and tire setup anything should be good. And you wont have to worry about any major rubbing issues. I personally did NOT want to put flaps on my truck, but they serve 2 purposes and after a few trips in the rain I deemed them a necessity to keep my truck protected and to help the drivers behind me keep their windshield intact.

Yep. Those are they. So for factory mud flaps, that's a really good price. I'd definitely scoop a set up. I like OEM whenever possible and cost effective. They should fit perfectly since you have the SX package.

Agree--good price for those flaps. I put WeatherTech on my truck. No fender flares although I wish I had them but I don't have the SX package. Couldn't find any SR Tacomas with that when I was searching.

I wasn't an asshole but I also wasn't about to pay the sticker price they were asking for my sr i ended up paying 25,500 otd for my sr 4x4 with the convenience package, sometimes leaving and getting lunch changes the salesman tune when you come back in haha.

What year is this? Looks like you blacked out the TSS garnish on the grille?!

I'd love to know how you did that and how its working if so!!

Damn dude.... that's the OTD price I shot for (4x4 4cyl sr AC with convenience package). I tried for 3 months. That's a hard to beat price. I wound up paying a little over 27,500 otd (had side steps and a couple other negligible accessories). Good for you man.. glad to hear that 25k can be done -- I really couldn't swing it. My son is looking at the moment... every dealer in my tri state area wants 32k and up.

This is a 2020 4x4 4cyl SR. Got it back in mid march. The TSS sombrero/garnish was removed and I used a vinyl smoke tint to darken it up. It's a little dark for my taste so I'll eventually redo it with a light smoke vinyl tint. As it sits you can still see a faint hint of the sombrero. I use my cruise control frequently-- I haven't experienced any issues, even in heavy rain. I've had deer run out in the road and the truck worked as expected--- breaking for me automatically -- I guess that was a good test -- not like you can test it out at 40 mph with a human...
If i were to experience any issues it would get removed immediately-- i care about form, just not quite as much as function. I used Vvivid air tint and stretched it pretty good with a heat gun. I've also read of a couple people using plasti dip and having no issues. I'm a fan of plastidip, just not in this application, so I opted for something a bit more subtle and transparent. Theres a member here who makes overlay decals for just the chrome sombrero as well, so you have options.

This was my first mod. So no grille lights in this pic, but you can see how dark it is.

I think 25k otd is a one of the kind deal, probably a desperate sales manager at the end of the month who is one sale away from a big bonus. Doesn’t hurt to try tho..

Your probably right. I was told the same about 27,500. Several dealers told me that they would loose money selling it OTD at that price. I tried... I didn't want to drive over an hour just to buy a vehicle.

I'm no expert, in fact this was my first brand new vehicle purchase. I made out great, but I also stuck to my guns went in there with the right mindset and told myself not to let them bully myself into overpaying for a base model truck and I straight up told them what I thought would be a fair price for a base model truck. I simply stated that over and over again to the salesman. Then told him I would think about it over lunch. Came back and I got to speak with the Manager. And he said we will take the dash divider out, the floor mats out and the mud guards off for 25,5 and I said cool I can buy all those things cheaper by myself anyways.

I got my 17' SR 5MT Convenience package for 25.4k after going back and forth between 2 dealers. I also had a trade-in that I used as a bargaining chip. Basically told them whoever was going to give me more for my BRZ was going to get my sale. The trick is go at the end of the month and the model year. Trust me, they want to move older stock hah I've done some years in car dealerships, its cut throat for that bonussss :D

Just picked this one up at the beginning of July. 2020 ACLB 2.7l 4x4 SR with SX package. So far 2100 miles in and I’m enjoying it. Not a huge fan of the engine considering how slow it is but I am coming from a 2005 dodge magnum srt8 so a pretty big drop in hp. I recently took out all the rear seating and dropped in some dewalt storage boxes and a tough track pad to give myself better in cab storage. Put some desert does it seat jackers on as well because I couldn’t stand the seating position. I’ll be looking into vinyl wrapping and getting a more aggressive tire. Had my last car for 10 years so I’m hoping to have this one for much longer

I kinda read about this a little when choosing tires. From what I gatheed the 2.7 either needs pizza cutters or -- if you want wide tires you'll probably wind up having to regear (if it's a daily driver). Also I'm pretty sure either way a CMC is in order. For me, personally, 285s were a no go with the 2.7. Regearing to keep mid range power/gas mileage and cab mount chop were both hard no's for me -- I guess its all dependent on your personal usage of the pickup.
Just for comparison sake I wound up going from 23-24 mpg to 19-21 mpg and I find that ect is something that I feel like i need when merging onto a highway (265/75/16 tires and they are fairly light at 44lbs each).

I talked with deviltaco04 and he said the 285s and 2.7 needs a regear or the truck and gas mileage are both dogs. He wound up going back to stock until he could regear.

Maybe it’s just still breaking in but I drive a 25 mile commute on nicely paved fairly flat NJ roads and I’m getting 19mpg in the 2.7 can’t seem to get the 23-24 like most people are saying. Is it because I drive in NJ which means I need to drive 75-80 to keep up with traffic? Help me put guys what am I missing here
