This is what I hate so much about the taco's shifting, and unfortunately I am still finding some driving scenarios where it will do this in 2.0. It feels like the cause is that the ECU will only allow so much throttle in each gear, if you ask for more it will downshift you. The problem is, there is a humongous delta in torque delivery between say max throttle allowed in third gear and the torque delivered just after the downshift to second. I don't care if / when it downshifts; constant shifting is what modern trannys do. I just don't understand why it has to be so difficult for these ECUs to match pre-shift torque to post-shift torque.

Ya if it weren’t a budget restriction I would get a Ram Limited EcoDiesel and a side by side for off highway fun. The upcoming new F-150 or Bronco is certainly appealing looking as well. I just had a lot of off road kit already for Toyota so it kept me in the family. Hopefully the OVTune improves at least one aspect of the truck I dislike.

My quick shifts to second as well. It needs to hold first a little longer IMO

For me AC isn’t as important for several reasons, one being that I’m in Washington state and it doesn’t get too hot imo, second I tend to get sick from AC, so I only use when it’s absolutely need it(usually when my wife and kids are with me on a long trip). Though I get it, having a barely functioning ac in a new truck is unacceptable.
I know another common problem with these RAM’s is header bolts snapping and the only fix is to replace them with ‘shorty’ header.
Tundra, I’m sure it’s reliable(Toyota..duh!), but being a gas monster as well as ancient tech, it does not appeal to me at all.
Really trying with this Tacoma, but molasses-like throttle response is wearing me thin. Wish there was a way to eliminate atkinson-cycle completely.

If I upgraded from stock tires (265/65/17) to (265/70/17) would I need to do a reset the LV and AT?

Do you mean you wish there was a way to disable the Atkinson cycle?

Question, will reflashing to a different tune remove the stored trouble code?

Reason I ask is Truck pulled p0087. Most likely fuel pump issue. Check engine light disappeared after filling up but did DTC read with ovtune software and code is still stored.
I want to reflash to stock before I drop it off but want to make sure the trouble code is still stored on there.

What led ya to believe this was a fuel pump issue? I'd leave the tune, unless u have a tune with gearlock or something that they would definitively know u had a tune on.

Same issue my coworker had and stock tune with same code. Dealer changed it out for him after checking trouble code. I only have a 2019 with 10k miles only thing I can think of is the recall on it. But my vin doesn’t apply apparently.

edit- truck was also bogging and trac off light was on with check engine light.

First time poster in this thread. Trying to make sense of what I need to buy for my 2016 Tacoma Sport. Looking to be able change alternator settings for my AGM main battery so it charges at a higher voltage. A performance tune is appealing as well. What do I need to purchase to make this happen? Thanks in advance

Now that OVTUNE has allowed people to flash other people’s trucks with VFTuner, you could ask someone in your area to flash your truck for you (for a fee-usually $250 from my research). Then you would not have to “figure out” how to tune your own truck. Also you would have someone local to you to update your tune for a small fee ($25-50) when, and if you need them to.
This to me, is a “win-win”. You get the tune for CHEAP, and the other guy recoups some of his $800 (and hours of research) investment.
I am willing and able to help anyone in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area or anyone willing to travel. Just PM me.
I also have techstream and can do TSB’s.

Yes, I am up for providing that support in the Hampton Roads area of VA also. I can help with tech stream to get the base ECU updated as well as the VF flashing. I am an AT transmission so from a custom tuning option I can help there.
