2007 Rear chrome bumper dent removal

Anyone have any experience with this? I hear the metal isn’t real thick. Wondering if it can be straightened.

 

Rockauto sells them fairly cheap. Easier to just replace. Just be prepared to deal with rusted bolts that would likely break.
They are really thin, they can actually be twisted.

 

Bring it to a body shop and see what they say.

I had a small dent in mine and two local PDR guys both said they wouldn't touch it. As thin as Tacoma rear bumpers are, apparently they're too thick to use the paintless dent repair process on. I ended up getting a used one.

BTW, Beware aftermarket bumpers. If you think the OEM stuff is thin, many of the aftermarket ones are like aluminum foil. And if you go for chrome plated, their plating absolutely stinks.

 

A 4lb hammer and a 2' long 2"X4" will get most of a dent out, but the bumper has to be off the truck. Have a friend hold the end up with the dented part on soft dirt. Pound away at the dent. If the whole shape of the bumper is bent, that takes some creative winching with the bumper on the truck and you won't get it to fit perfect. I've straightened a few. They didn't come out perfect, but they were vastly improved.

 

It can certainly be straightened, but the chrome will most likely crack. At that point you'll have to sand and paint it.

 

I definitely wouldn't say our bumpers are thin...wait till you take it off! The Bumper is stamped from some pretty thick steel and then plated. Anything you do to work the dent out will result in damaging the plating most likely causing it to flake off eventually if not instantly. Getting a new OE one on Ebay, there cheap and mine has been looking great for the last 3+ years.
