I could listen for hours. No, really.

Six Sigma is also interesting.. at least I found what little I read to be interesting.

A fellow nerd! WOO! Yeah, in the QA business, we all find it interesting enough to stay in QA, some more than others, but that's pretty much the bare minimum. Usually it's at the 1 year mark, people either drop and go elsewhere or stick with it. I got into it as a building block for going elsewhere into design or manufacturing/industrial, now that I'm here I see I can use it to step into operations and management, etc. So, not a lifer, but I wanted a good background - 1 year isn't enough time. I'm nearing 5 years total (1 year as a tech at prior company, almost 4 as engineer/sr. engineer current company).

The other plus in QA, if you're decent enough at it to not collapse a factory...QA is always looking for more bodies. My coworker just got hired, in the middle of a pandemic, with a company that was desperate for QA. So it's a really "safe" field overall, and a good one if you want to use it to go to other companies and move around (we're thinking of moving to TX, so I'm considering more time in QA because that would be an easy move).

Six Sigma is good in vehicle, high volume stuff. We're in aerospace, so we only make ~200 of the same part through the year, so you can force six sigma stuff but it's not really a great fit. I personally am a fan of the Red X approach (also from vehicle though) which looks at the parts more than the process, and then works backwards. I like the Six Sigma approach, it's a good building block, but the actual numbers don't work well in aerospace for a lot of suppliers, we're all low volume high mix so we're doing machine setups every hour, where as vehicle will do them....once....So to adjust the cutting wheel speed or feed or something in vehicle, you learn the difference it makes almost right away. In Aero, it can take months for a corrective actions sometimes, because the next lot of parts to prove it out is months away, when our vehicle plants can do the same thing in an hour.

BUT onto stonks and the more boring stuff.

This is only for Ryanair but it's showing that aero is coming back. The fact that we've recovered this far already is pretty good for aero actually. I think this goes along with what we were talking about before, where this isn't an economic crisis caused by a bad economy, so the recovery is also uncharted territory.

We were first time buyers in 2003. We were approved for I THINK 445K...and that was ABSURD...it was like 50% Debt to income...We were like WOW...Look what we can buy, and then ran the numbers and WHoooaa....So we decided to limit ourselves to $285K-$300K and found a house and negotiated down to $283K FIXED 30 (YAY)....Shortly after that the market whet tits up and all the $440K homes were reselling for like $375K...
Well you know what they say...Even hitler...oh wait...
Reminds me, the other day my friend posted that "JoJo Rabbit was so sad, has anyone seen it" and I was like..."Wow, I can't believe you didn't already know hitler died" (that's my kind of humor..)
Oh yea, and Lean....One of the USA lean founders was teaching at my work and I asked him during a break if based on the immediate year over year improvements of companies, if he ever started investing in the publicly traded companies they worked with..He said yes and it paid off...

Should have seen the writing on the wall for LYFT after UBER and bough puts...
    Oh well...
I see a certain company is trending today....I will share with you my favorite story about that company and then reveal their name...
It's April of 1992...I am in highschool and the Boston Bruins are in the NHL Playoffs and playing the Buffalo sabers. I am listening to the games in my room on my headphones because at the time my dad was probably watching the Red Sox and I think I had to be in bed by 10pm...and the game/post game and then talk radio on WBZ boston after that I would listen to and drift off to sleep...Well this company use to play commercials that said "Communications is how humans stay in touch with each other...and data is the wave of the future. Moving vast amounts of data effectively and efficiently is what we do at XXXX. Invest in the future..."

So At the time I was using my Mac Classic and a 2400baud Hayes compatible modem to go online and connect to BBS and what not...And even then you could see the value in higher speed connections....

Anyway..This dumb high school kid says to his father "Hey dad, have you ever heard of XXXX?" Dad lowers the newspaper (they had them at that time ;) ) "No, what is it?" "Well they make all the network switches and...they make the machines that help move data without messing it up. It's really what everyone is going to be using as more people start going "online" (or whatever it was called in 1992)...You have any stock in them?" "No..." as he raises the paper and goes back to reading...."Well you should buy some stock in them...I really think everything they are saying about the future of networking is true..." and my dad again lowered the paper and said "You've got your own money, why don't you buy stock in them..."
Of course as a 16 year old doofus in the early 1990's there's no chance to open a brokerage account and buy stock...

    So that company?
    Well since that date it's split... 2:1 2:1 2:1 2:1 3:2 3:2 2:1 2:1 a total of 144:1...and the price at that time? FIFTY F&*(& CENTS a share....So $1000 was 2000 shares...x144 splits 288,000 shares....and those 288,000 shares would be trending today...at $43/share for $12,384,000..Oh, and the DRIP of about $0.20/share per quarter (3%) $370K/year...But my DAD WAS TOO BUSY READING THE PAPER!!!!!
    Anyone guess????

The media can't properly divide the country if they all print the real story. Ever since I was a kid I've thought religion to be the single most divisive thing humans ever created. I think big media might finally be giving it a run for it's money.

    A smart play?
    Something like VZ, T, VTI
Less wise play? TSLA on a sub $1,550 dip today on the 5:1 run up...
Crazy play? Pick any of the 5 most active and try to get out before the 10:30 dump, buy back in on the afternoon run...and sweat like a monster.

I was looking at WBA, but my concern now is it might be the stock I'd choose to remove from the DJIA for TSLA

    I giggled too :p

Follow up: can't figure out MESO, google and yahoo aren't telling me anything and TD is showing it holding right now. Skeptical, trading might be held for something. Woopsies. Might be holding a big percentage loss on that one.... fortunately it's only 2 shares, should have bailed yesterday if I wanted out :p
