My 2014 RAM 1500 Sport had rust all over the frame as well as one of the fenders completely rusted through in 5 year period.

is anyone finding the new 2020’s with same problem? I just picked up a 2020 a month ago, and sure as hell hope that is not an issue still.

    Cheers

I've taken it to 2 dealers and they have said this. The second one told me there are plugs in the frame they need to put in, it'll take about 3 hours. I'll have them do it at the next service before winter hits.

Every vehicle on the road where salt is used will rust somewhere, sometime. Spend the $60 bucks on a 6-pack of FF and profit.

Hey Toyota, galvanize the dang frames. Jeez, the solution is sitting right in front of your face.

They are lying through their teeth. Look at the inside of the frame, if there isn't white goo, it wasn't done. Talk to the dealer again and then call Toyota and tell them the dealer refuses to honor Toyota's frame ''fix.''

I have a 2017 off road dbl cab with 36k miles. I was just in the dealership last week and they did a vin number recall search. I was told that I have NO recalls associated with my vehicle.
    Here are a few pictures....

    It’s not a recall. It’s a service campaign

Just crawled under, there appears to be a gray sealant at parts of the frame

Wow, my 19 year old tundra treated with fluid film every year looked better. Even the dealer i got my truck from told me to take responsibility of caring for the under carriage of your truck. Everything seen/read, and heard of these frames, they do rust out quicker than some other manufactures if not taken care of.

just brought my 2017 dcsb in due to the mailed letter stating if not looked at within 2 years the frame isn't covered or something like that. We will see what they say. Bought in CA but lived in the mountains mostly, it was looking at rusty as my new england car that was 14 years old.

Here in new england they spray this calcium chloride on the roads to deice them. Friggin stuff will eat a vehicle like it was acid dipped.....All in the name of safety.

Said truck was 'perfect'. I don't really believe it but at least I got it checked and am on track for the warranty if anything really happens. Very much so considering selling this 2017 and buying a year outside of this rust issue as well as the leaking rear tail light issue (they didn't cover this issue), as well as the fan issue. It's had as many problems all be it minor, than my 2006 Subaru from New England..

My 2006 has less rust than these pics. They use mostly cinder on the roads in winter here. It breaks windshields and chips paint. I'd rather deal with that though than a disintegrating frame. The frame issue has allegedly cost them over 3 billion, and they still haven't fixed it.

    Nor will they.

Small, light duty pickups have been disintegrating for decades. It's nothing new... only now, the internet bitches about it, unlike in the past where it was kinda "tough luck". Not to mention this is nothing against anyone on here at all, but the Tacoma has long been one of the first pickup trucks for someone coming over from a car. Many of these people have no idea how to care for a body-on-frame vehicle, as opposed to unibody construction.

I took my Tacoma, AKA 'Spicy Taco', in for an oil change on 8/21 and was notified it needed to have the frame rust proofed. I had no idea there was an issue with frame rust on this truck. I inspect it several times each year and apply a liberal amount of AMSOIL Heavy-Duty Metal Protector yearly. I haven’t seen rust and it’s an Ohio truck. I’m not sure what they seen but it takes 2 to 3 days to complete. If I see rust going forward, I’ll take the spot to bare metal and epoxy prime or PRO 15 the area. Hopefully that wouldn’t void any future warranty work.
