2005-2010 warranty enhancement program (rust on frames)

I was just doing a bit of digging on the frames and I noticed there was a recall for the Tacoma’s from 05-10 for the frames... I had just bought a Tacoma this past November and I realized afterwards that there was an abnormal amount of rust. Thing is rusted a lot and I was wondering if I would still be able to get my frame redone or if it’s too many years passed, if that’s so time to get a rotary tool, rust attachment and cover the entire frame in rust reformer and repaint it with rustoleum.

 

Pretty sure your out of the warranty enhancement window. I have an 07 & I got checked last year a couple of days before i was out of the frame change window. You could also call corporate to be sure

 

I have an 08, and from what I remember the frame rust warranty was extended to 12 years from the original date of delivery. There have also been some manditory frame inspections a coating installation along the way, so those may also have an affect on your situation.

 

I do not understand why at this late date people still do not understand that there are two entirely different things here. Well, I do understand, since some Toyota dealers seem to have been all too happy to obfuscate things.

First, there was the original Warranty Enhancement Program, which was an actual 'voluntary' factory recall, which expired in spring 2016.

Subsequently, a class action suit was brought against Toyota, which was settled in 2017 by the current '12 years from date of first use' frame replacement deal. This is NOT a warrantee enhancement, it is a legal settlement. Your 07, alas, has missed the 12 year window, and I fear you are SOL. Depending on date of first use, most 08's are probably also too late. 09's and on are good for their respective 12 year window.

I had my 07's frame replaced in 2018. It makes me very sad that many people seem to have missed out. 09 and later people, for godz sake stay on top of this!
