With the rust on that thing, I would think a good, solid tug would do the trick! If not... :sawzall:

Also, sorry to hear about your dad!

Its not quite aftermarket. Just replacing the floor with something bulletproof!

    You're probably not wrong!

And thanks, I'm sure we've all talked about that a few years ago.

Just go full hillbilly with no bed, and a few crappy halogen trailer lights for brake lights / turn signals on a non-pressure treated 2x4 rear bumper.

Is it bad that that particular style truck is so common up here, my truck stands out as being different for still having the factory bed and not having any rot holes (other than the bed floor)?

Also, you forgot to have the tail lights duct taped to said 2x4 bumper!

That is giving them too much credit, homie. You get one lash of free Home Depot twine that they recycled from bringing their Christmas tree home with 3 years ago, if you're lucky.

Why do you have to attach the lights to the truck with twine, tape, straps, etc? They are attached by wires already! o_O

Honestly thats what I was thinking since the tree farm I use to work at we used bailing twine from hay bails to tie down the trees to cars or to stand them up on stakes lol

So I'm looking around at stuff I'll need for the tow vehicle, all weather mats, cargo mat, brake controller etc. But I am looking for a monitor for temps etc. I use an ultragauge in the Tacoma and love it. Think I want one for the Infiniti too. I saw that scangauge posted the codes you'd use for the different systems you'd want to monitor and sure enough Infiniti is on there. Ultragauge doesn't have them setup for Infiniti. Is it safe to assume the codes on scangauge site would be the same since they pull from obdii?

I've been looking into this also and may end up going with a wifi obd ii thing and an app on my phone. Some of the apps are pretty damn cool.

I have a Bluetooth obd worth every penny. Get something universal though. I got mine and it only works with android phones, doesn’t work with iPhones. Oops.

that and an app, works great. I have an old android phone I “converted” into a GPS (just downloaded the maps). Its not on any service plan but it works for music, sat nav, and obd. My work phone is now unlimited data but if and when I no longer have a work phone (leave the company) that’s my norm is an old phone. Works great.

I used the obdii adapter with the Torque app. I had it set up as sort of my replacement speedometer. I had it there for quite a few years until I traded in the truck. I used an older Android phone from 2009. Unfortunately, a few years in extreme temperatures caused the battery to puff up. I'd be hesitant to do this again with a phone without a removable battery.

IDK if they sell them, but give a look at Copeland. Ended up getting my Yokos there and was cheaper than the local tire places even

Finally got the Andersen hitch dialed in and it towed like a dream, didn’t even notice a difference passing tractor trailers.

    Looks nice!
Why the need for a PowerStroke if the trailer is an Ultra Lite?

Need is such a strong term...

I think it’s been well established that I’m in the camp of ‘anything worth doing is worth overdoing’. I can tow the trailer with a 150 but it’d have to be the max tow, max payload package. The trailer weighs just shy of 7k lbs, even though it’s an ultra lite. Problem I had was, I wasn’t having luck finding a used 150 with the payload package and, if I went new, i’d dump somewhere between $4-6k to add all the goodies it’d want to make it tow (I know I could buy a standard 150, throw a hitch on it and it would pull it, but it’d be legally overloaded and it didn’t sit well with me). Alternatively, I could buy just about any 3/4 ton truck and it will come set with tow mirrors, brake controller, receiver, ready to do (except some Chebbies because they actually make 3/4 ton trucks with standard mirrors for some reason...). So I bought a 3/4 ton gasser initially. Loved towing with it, but it got totaled. The replacement was a model year newer and still did fine, but it was different, more fuss towing and worse fuel economy. Stumbled on the diesel at a local dealer and, because I made a good deal on the gasser, I traded for the diesel and ended up with the same payment and duration I had from the first 3/4 ton gasser. I absolutely do not need a 3/4 ton and certainly not the diesel. That said, towing with that thing is freakin awesome! I love driving it, it’s a dream truck for me. I loved the 17+ Super Duty body style when it came out and the new diesel engine is a beast of a power plant. So, just a series of events that happened to land me in a diesel truck. Time will tell if it was a good decision or not... but I have a lot of warranty left and, if it starts giving me problems, I could actually trade back to a gasser and come out ahead with the equity I made with the trade.
