Full detail on interior and cleaned/treated my bed mat (almost 10 yrs old) which was pretty worn & faded even with having a cap (formerly) and now a Tonneau Cover.

I've never had a bed mat.

Are they secured somehow? If not, are they at risk of lifting/flying out at highway speeds?

I've never secured mine as I've had a cap or tonneau cover. They're too heavy to lift/fly out. Some secure them using the existing bed bolts or drill new holes for bolts & large washers.

I usually secure anything in my bed but it didn't even cross my mind that the mat could fly out, its plenty heavy enough for that to not be an issue.

Wired up the ROK40s from Lightforce. Drilled a hole right into the cap and siliconed around it to keep water out. Then ran the wires to a power source I have in the bed with a switch.

    Project #2 today:
Installed my Viair compressor on the Slee Offroad ARB bracket. I made a small aluminum plate to allow the Viair compresssor to bolt down on the Slee bracket. It’s getting real tight now with the Aux battery on the OGE bracket and the ViAIR compressor on the Slee bracket. Other side has stock battery and Blue Sea 12 circuit aux fuse panel. I don’t have a final location/mount for the air manifold so it’s just zip tied. No air lockers just OBA for tires and toys.

Installed a new head unit. Now I've got gauges and fader control. The Maestro rr didn't get along to well with my old head unit so it was time for an upgrade.IMG_20200814_170127013.jpg

    Thanks guys.

Yeah... being an aerospace engineer makes be really cautious with this stuff. I think in terms of anything in the bed as being subjected to aerodynamic lift increasing with speed.

Plus, I know a truck newbie that had a box (unsecured, but described by him as "heavy") depart his bed perfectly vertically on the highway... that adds to my caution/paranoia.

I think I got dirty more than anything else thanks to the Fluid Film that I had applied.

I replaced my left door upper hinge. I've been trying to get this done right after I bought the truck, two years ago!
I tried installing my Bushwacker flares but it seemed like they didn't want to fit. I'll try again at a later date.
I ran the wires for my inverter install. The harness under the seat isn't 100% (still need a clip for the wire protector).
The harness along the frame fit surprisingly well. There is one part that I need to bundle using zip ties.

I may try and do more stuff tomorrow depending on the weather.

I also found a use for the child seat tether.

Dobinson’s coils and shocks. SOS sliders, ditch light brackets, and front skid. Rigid ditch lights. BFG KO(dos) More minor stuff.

Mine has run 1000s of miles on the interstate now. No issues. It does have a wood block on it next to the cab but there is no air there to get under it.
If Toyota thought it was a problem, there would be a way to attach.

If it helps, I've had my Tonneau Cover off for 2 weeks with an empty bed and commute on the highway daily (70-80 mph) and my bed mat hasn't budged.

I also found the source of a noise that has had me wondering where it was coming from. I thought it was the hinge because as you can see, the bushing was shot. I replaced the hinge because the door would drop (when opened) ever so slightly and there was a rubbing noise.

    IMG_1867.jpg

So after I installed the new hinge I checked the operation of the door and I still had the noise. Upon further inspection I found that the door check is rubbing against the window run inside the door. I do not know why, but it's something I'll have to look at.

No way in hell a stock Toyota bed mat is flying out of the bed. Being concerned and cautious is great but anything beyond that...

Because the bed mats are heavy and flat. It’s weight distributed evenly on the floor of the bed. Boxes can fly out because of its shape, with it not being completely full, air can pocket in there and balloon it out. I guess you could also imagine picking up a 25lb dumbbell where the weight is condensed, then try picking up a 25lb rubber mat that’s 5-6’ long and ~4.5’ wide
