i was asking if it’s common practice. You’re in the 3rd gen forum, I would have thought your glass bones and paper skin feelings would have callused by now

Yeah I tried that with dealer #1, then dealer #2. I think I’m just going to have to part with it based on what I’m reading if I want to get into a new one, it’s not a huge deal, but I really do like it lol

Just tell them you are keeping your hood, if they really don't want to swap it you can remove it before the sale. Then they have the option of taking a truck with no hood, or doing the swap. Don't give them the option you don't want.

Used to used, I could see it possibly happening. Used to new, hell no. Your best bet is find a flat hood for you current truck, keep your scooped. Swap to new truck yourself, then sell the new flat. PITA, & long way around, but...:notsure:

In the event of an accident, the dealer who swapped may be liable for any resulting injury.

Dealers generally do not modify vehicles. Too many potential legal issues.

Is this a serious thread? Entitlement much...

OP is saying other people have hurt feelings and glass bones, yet he’s whining about a dealer not wanting to do something they’re not required to do. Seriously?

Just buy a used, paint matched OR hood and swap it with your sport hood. When you get your new truck put the Sport hood on it and sell your new trucks hood.

Used to deal with this stuff all the time when I worked at the dealership. Customer won’t buy it unless their cap, tonneau cover, running boards, etc is on the new truck. They buy a new body style truck and you’d tell them it’s different so there are fitment issues. Sales person was too stupid to realize and didn’t want to lose the sale and the customers were usually always overly demanding and don’t want to be told no. And of course because of new car surveys and customer satisfaction numbers, we usually never said no to anything unless it was some type of safety concern. If something wasn’t able to be swapped we either eat something or give it to them at our cost or some other crap. God I don’t miss that bullshit.

If its important to have the scooped hood, tell the dealer no deal unless they swap it.

I personally don't see the big deal. Keep the clean OR hood.

Wait! Do not trade that truck in yet. Swap that hood with someone and pocket the ~$500. Then use that to buy a new hood.

    Sorry, not true.

If they replace your original damaged hood with a new hood, then the integrity of the vehicle is same as original.

Swapping hoods from different years is not the same.

I am not a lawyer, but I'm sure there are legal reasons for the dealer's position.

Leveled with Bilstein 5100 shocks, Kumho AT52 265/75 tires, Redline hood struts, R4T tailgate lock, Matt Gecko LED strips in bed and under hood, WeatherTech hood guard, OEM bed mat, Husky floor mats, Carhart seat covers, Grille replacement with Toyota letters, Sony AX6000 replacement head unit, OTT lite/mild tune, and an occasional splash of fuel additive.
Go to the dealer sign the deal up until final signatures and then tell them either swap the hood or you’re gonna walk. Chances are pretty good they will swap the hood. Worth a try
