Good choice; I was in the same position last year and it was really a coin toss between the two. I ended up going OR as well. Enjoy!

    Skid plate. Running boards.
I was in the exact same scenario in 2014. I went with the SR5 then regretted it. It’s a great truck but I did too much I shoulda coulda.

And now I have an Off-Road. For the difference get the Off-Road to avoid the what-ifs.

Haha you know what they say about opinions & a**holes. I think you did the right thing - really can't go wrong w/ the OR. Even if you don't use the extra features, you have them there just in case. If you ever end up selling the truck, it's just one more selling point over the other trucks.

    You owe us pictures

Buddy chose a 2019 trd or instead of the sr5. After being in my 2020 sr5 he's now regretting not buying the sr5. I guess it works both ways. Seems a year later toyota made a big difference how the transmission, engine or both behave together, plus my truck ride quieter.
At any rate congrats to the op on the new truck.

So is it better to trade in when your vehicle is completely paid off?

I'd say so since it's less debt to deal with and more money goes toward principal. The dealerships fudge the numbers when it comes to trade ins anyway so you feel you're getting a good deal and it works for their profit margin somehow. I saw a video from a salesman a while ago and can't remember the specifics.

I don't think you ever get a good deal with a trade-in but really it's all the same. If it's paid off in X number of years then the value of the vehicle is technically the same. If you owe 10,000 this year and your trade value is 30,000 and in X years it's paid off and your trade-in value is 20,000 then all the same.

Somewhere in the numbers the dealership makes money but if you can live with the numbers then no harm. I feel like I got a good deal and this was after about 3-4 months of research, talking to about 3 or more dealerships, "crunching" numbers myself, checking trade-in and resale values using KBB, etc. Maybe I could have gotten more by selling it myself but maybe not.

bro this happens to me all the time, I cross like 4 creeks and climb a few fairly large rocks and feel like a man just to see a lowered ford focus chillen in the middle of the back country

Back in 73 i had a datsun 2wd mini pickup that i lifted and installed larger wheels from a chevy. I was able to make it up this rocky grown in woods road to the top of a mountain where a defunct civil defense tower once stood. I wasn't there for very long when i heard some engines struggling up the mountain. Eventually 2 cj5 jeeps showed up. One guy nearly dropped his beer when he saw my pickup in the small clearing.
