Saw @nDub driving around in his Jeep without top and doors. This is how he looks like after yesterday's ride.

I picked up assemblies from 05taco4x4. Only have a few pics, and this was before realizing I forgot the backing plate.

Haha no joke! When I left Sonora around 9:30am Saturday for slickrock it was already in the mid 90s.

At least the clouds came out for the afternoon and blocked the sun, still hot and muggy though.

Makes me miss my old Toyota pickup with A/C.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

That got pushed to first week of September.

Good news is I had a trusted mechanic put a second set of eyes on the truck. He said aside from that bearing, the truck is 100% good to go. Bearing is fixed now, so we can roll with confidence.

Ya... farthest North on this trip is Colorado. We'll be coming across through Southern Utah. I looked at doing the return trip up through Wyoming and cutting across, but thought it would be packing 11 pounds of shit in a 5 pound sack. We only have 8 or 9 days to do the round trip.

I’ll be doing a similar trio early sept. We haven’t decided where yet but headed toward Yellowstone and need to plan the rest!

I'm thinking next (early) summer, about doing a Northern trip. Maybe a big loop across 80 up through Yellowstone, across through Cooeur d'alene in to Washington and down.

I did the same, I haven't had to replace the bearings yet so I keep the assemblies in my spares.

My daughter got me a pretty awesome sign for the garage, for my Birthday. Seems pretty appropriate

Now I just have to rearrange things to get it hung. The garage is currently an unmitigated disaster after working all weekend on the axle bearings. It was too damn hot to clean up the mess when I got done.

I was just informed that my company's new PTO policy requires I finish out the year with a balance of zero hours.
I currently have 133 hours or 3+ weeks.
I'm going to save 1 week for the holidays. The + can be used as individual days ....long weekends.

What to do with the remaining 2 weeks?
Would 2 weeks be enough to drive up though Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and loop back down through Nevada?

It's about 2500 miles with no dirt. Add in 500 and call it 3,000 with side trips.
I've done over 3,000 miles down to Baja in 2 weeks. But that's also skipping through CA and the northern part of Baja Norte. I've done a few 3000+ mile loops in 2 weeks....that's a lot of friggin driving.

Otis that sounds like the making of a good trip and definitely alot of driving!

    Question around heading to Baja...

If one were to head down from San Diego just for a few days to surf, fish and beach camp - would you be able to point me in the right direction?

Have a look at Adventure Taco's trip on the Nevada Back Country Discovery Route. Or any of the other BDR Routes. The Pony Express Route might be fun too.
