I’m not looking to be the HMFIC either but I think I got part of that tossed on me.

Meet at noon at HD Catskill and go from there. Trails are all dirt seasonal roads. Unless we get real heavy rains, a CRV on all seasons should be able to get over them.

Nice! I will have my girlfriend with me as well

Sounds like @Brownmatthall's girlfriend knows the area too so hopefully everything won't get put on you. I think this should be a pretty casual day though

I’ve organized drives in my past life as a VW person. Some of those got way out of hand from a legal and safety standpoint. Those started as a couple friends on a Friday night and two years later we had 100+ cars, groups, radio signals, police scouts, etc.

Not that I expect this group to turn a Sunday cruise into mayhem. Let’s go out with a lose plan and play it by ear.

a little late now, but if anyone has a VHF radio, bring it with them. It would be good to have a few trucks with coms. If you want to order one, the BaoFang on Amazon has a good reputation. Far better than the family walkie talkies you can buy and simpler than a CB.

I have a UV-5R but no idea how to use it. I programmed it to my county PD and just listened when I was bored and working at home. If you can at the very least get me on the same frequency, we can communicate

I'm sorry I think that is my fault. I just thought that since it was your backyard you would know a few good spots.

Just stumbled upon this. I'm out in Rochester NY, but I come out to the ADK area fairly often. Would love to meet up and do some easy trails. There's nothing near me.

    Interested.

First, what is the goal/purpose of this page?
social chat group, organizing meets up for "off-roading," finding local single fellow Toyota owners?

Obviously, NY is not too friendly to off-roading road legal vehicles. Large groups are usually a red flag that I would suggest avoiding.
One benefit that I see is finding someone local to you to explore with. Exploring alone can be a little nerve racking given break downs, tire punctures, and lack of cell reception (especially ANYWHERE in the Adirondacks). There are a lot of seasonal roads in the catskill area as well as the Adirondacks that are really fun to explore- especially during winter. You can get into some decent snow wheeling on these seasonal roads because most stay open to serve hunters and cross country skiers. My neighbor and I have gotten to a handful of these roads during spring small game hunting.
