Has anyone had luck installing a bumper without friends? I’m installing an AllPro Baja tube bumper front and rear, but it’s been under foot in my garage due to distancing requirements. Difficult to install without coming within 6 feet of my buddy. Not easy on my own either though. I was thinking of building a tray for it to sit atop my floor jack and wondered if maybe someone had already invented a successful design. Thanks either way!

I rig it from my engine hoist .

Handles the weight easy to move around

Just as much of a pain to lower and raise as a floor jack

Start the bolts one side finger tight then get the other side started

Man that's a much better idea but I don't have an engine hoist. Only ever pulled an engine from a VW and that falls out the bottom haha

Engine hoist works pretty good. I have a Harbor Freight riding mower lift and I installed both of my bumpers that way. Worked out pretty good.

I used my motorcycle jack on my chevy truck.

Personally, I'd probably just use the floor jack and jack stands you already have?

That might be my fate. Maybe the GF and the floor jack will work together to reduce my grunting and screaming at least a little.

Front is easy. Just park the truck on a slight incline and pick up the bumper and rest it on the studs. I say slight incline because then you can set it on the studs without nuts and it will stay put.

Rear is a different story. You'll have to get crafty with that one.

edit: Just saw you have a first gen. Not sure if you have studs like we do.

Either way that's a good idea. Works to get motorcycles into the back, and those are maybe even heavier than this bumper ;)
