    Hello all,

Trust me, have done lots of searching and would like to get a more well rounded opinion/ set-up for my taco.

I just want to level the truck out and thinking Bilstein 5100’s on all the corners. I do absolutely NO off-roading and never will, have a bull bar up front and no other “ added weight”.

I do not tow of anything significant and don’t put anything “ heavy” in the bed unless 3-4 rods and pier cart are considered heavy ( it’s not). So here in lies my question(s)......

can I get away with just Billy’s? ( I can figure out setting with more reading). Or do we recommend coils 884? 885? Paired with the billsteins? I’m looking for a smooth/soft ride that’s an upgrade from stock.

I have 265/75/r16 and will keep that size tire with stock rims. I will put upgraded rims later on ( few months).

Given the above information about my truck ( pretty much pavement princess) just want the stance, what setup would work best for pavement/smooth ride? Just billsteins set to whatever # for level or close to ( not maxed out). Coils with 5100’s set at 0? Would that be smoother?

I know this is a new question and one that’s never been asked before so I know it’ll take a long time for some responses as everybody gets over the shock of such an unheard of question.

Budget 1k. Willing to go a little more if it’s a big difference in set-ups. Certainly open for less ( needless to say)

Thanks for any and all opinions and I apologize for same old questions.

I’m sure someone will read this and say “ not this question again, can’t these people effin use the search button?” ( pushes away from computer). I did.... and still unclear or my question(s) was just a little bit different scenario. Thanks again

Bilsteins will preload the coils if you go above the 0 setting and that will make it stiffer but less flexible. I think you want to go with coils and shocks. The OME Nitro 90021 shocks might give a softer ride, my truck has the 90000 and 885 springs and it's stiff so you don't want that combo. Depending on how much lift you want, I would suggest the 90021 shocks with 884 springs, not 885. Check the 4 cyl forum and suspension forum, this question has been asked and several guys have tried different combos on reg cabs. Try a search on "884 reg cab" and that might find the threads. My truck is lifted 3" with 33" tires but rides stiff and it doesn't bother me since all my trucks have been pretty stiff.

Great looking truck and that is what I’m going/looking for. Did you go with aftermarket UCAs?

Also what did you do with the rear end? AAL? Block?

Yeah, the truck had the lift and the SPC UCA's on it when I got it. The adjustability of the SPC's is pretty nice. My truck has an add-a-leaf in the rear which works well for towing the boat.
